VIDEO: AFC Telford United fans pitch invade as they produce shock FA Trophy upset

AFC Telford United produced a stunning FA Trophy upset yesterday afternoon as they knocked out league above Solihull Moors.

The National League North side took the lead after 25 minutes thanks to Amari Morgan-Smith who lost his marker to hurl himself forward and nod past Ryan Boot.

Moors got themselves level in the 74th minute when former Grimsby player Jamey Osborne picked up possession and beat Telford keeper Andy Wycherley from distance.

It seemed to be heading for a draw, but on the 89th minute, the Bucks’ Daniel Udoh slotted the ball home from the right of the box to cause pandemonium in the away end, with some fans running onto the pitch to celebrate with the players.

That was just the start of the drama however as in the 100th minute, Solihull were given a penalty to get an equaliser, tempers flared and saw Daniels dismissed as he was on a yellow already.

After it calmed down, the penalty was finally taken but Wycherley saved Adi Yussuf’s shot, being the final kick of the game and secure Telford’s place in the semi finals.

And because everyone loves team celebrations inside the dressing room…

Telford boss Gavin Cowan said, as quoted by the Shropshire Star: “It is hard to describe.

“I’ve been here as a player with Telford and it is amazing to win, but to come here as the manager against a club with Solihull’s stature and win was amazing, it is a phenomenal feeling.

“We were well worth the win, we were the better side and had the more chances.

“I think we deserved it despite a dramatic finish.”
