An update has been given on a Sunderland fan who was ‘knocked out’ after being attacked by a West Brom fan last weekend.
The SAFCSA London Branch tweeted: “The lad who was assaulted is a member of our supporters branch. Thankfully (and very luckily) he is okay and recovering well. If anyone has any information related to this please contact West Brom. There’s no place for this in society let alone football.”
‘homeless kid’, a member on the readytogo.net forum, wrote: “He’s fine now. Got looked after and taken in an ambulance but a few of the lads he was with stuck around and went with him
“Police took their time getting to him 🙄 He’s a lovely lad, hopefully the WBA fan gets a knock on the door from the police.
“Yeah me and my son saw them running down the alleyway giggling their heads off, just after it happened.
“No need at all for that sort of stuff at all football game.”
@Warren_Stephens wrote: “I’m an Albion fan & was drinking with this S’land fan & his mates before the game. They’re a great bunch & not sort to look for or deserve this type of hassle. One of them was saying he enjoys #wba (a) because there’s never any bother & then this happens. Guy in blue is a coward.”

The game itself saw Trai Hume produce a brilliant free-kick to earn a much needed victory for the Black Cats on Saturday afternoon.
The Black Cats followed that result up with a 0-0 draw away at Norwich in midweek, while West Brom lost 2-1 away at Bristol City.
Sunderland are currently 4th in the Championship with 76 points from 41 games played, now 9 points from 2nd place Burnley, with 5 games to go. West Brom are 8h with 57 points from 41 games, and 5 points from the playoff places.
Twitter users reacted amid an update given on Sunderland fan ‘knocked out’ after being attacked by a West Brom fan…
@PeterBr27295261: Needs a lifetime ban if identified. Cowardly cunt too. No warning from behind.
@roballbright: Hope the lad is ok 👍
@ThomPHunts: Cowardly punch from the back, then thinks he’s a tough guy for it.
@Alexbcampbell2: Hope this piece of S**$ visits the SOL next time out… see how tough he is the … but he won’t! Scum.
@paulobiwan73: Judas punch from so called section 5
@ruddsx4: Hope the mackem kid is OK and hope that coward bastard gets locked up. Sly sukker punch just not on. The lad looked like he was just wanting to walk away
@Laffers93: Fucking shocking, could have easily killed him with the lad being so relaxed and not expecting it, needs the book thrown at him
@FPL_WadeWilson: Has this idiot been named and shamed yet #WBA fans? Get on it… we’re quick to point fingers at other fanbases after all.
@GY1Matt: Even as a Newcastle fan I think this is bang out of order. If you want to fight do it with someone who is happy to fight back & stand toe to toe with them. Sucking punching someone like this is just cuntish & cowardly behaviour.
@MarkoPoloG1889: Should do him for attempted murder the cowardly rat. I would be ashamed and completely embarrassed to be associated with a piece of work like that. What possible justification is there for doing such a thing?. Absolute pond life throw away the key.
@coyb63: Disgusting and bringing shame on most Albion fans. Always had time for Sunderland. Great support through thick and thin
@AndyC_88: Seeing too much of this lately.
@FPL_WadeWilson: An embarrassment to our fanbase and a coward. Hope the Sunderland fan is ok.
@HullCity1975: Never understand they sort of behaviour. If they wanna fight and they get knocked out fair play. But attacking someone especially from behind is cowardly and just gives WBA bad press when the majority of baggies are good fans
@PaulSmi71851275: Hope he gets locked up for that, the lad was obviously not interested in fighting, could have killed him.
@MarkBirtles: I hope West Brom out that spineless, cowardly piece of shit in the blue top. Worst of the worst cunts like him. Bet he’s spent all week telling his own version of that in the pub
@JLHardy08: Don’t know the facts or what happened before, but to sucker punch shows the lad clearly can’t fight fairly. Rivalries aside no one deserves that and hope the @SunderlandAFC lad is okay, hope he presses charges personally too so the low life gets a wake up call from boys in blue
@NcoTracing: Bet he went telling his mates “iv just done sunderland” youve hit someone from behind. Hope he’s sent down and banned for life.
@GILESY1973: Cowards purposely targeting people that don’t want to fight and then slaying them. Rats!!
