An update has been given on Shaka Hislop’s condition after he collapses live TV reporting on the match between AC Milan and Real Madrid.
The ex-Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop left viewers and staff members concerned after fainting in the middle of an on-air broadcast at Sunday’s pre-season fixture in Pasadena, California.
The 54 year old wobbled before falling forward into his broadcast partner, Dan Thomas, leading to immediate panic on the touchline.

The weather in Pasadena on Sunday was 30C, according to Accuweather.com, however it is unclear if that played a factor.
ESPN quickly cuts to a break after Hislop falls, with the network later updating viewers, saying that Hislop was ‘conscious’ and being examined by medics on the pitch.
‘My mate, Shaka, not here, but as it stands, it’s good news,’Β Thomas told viewers at half time.
‘He’s conscious, he’s talking, I think he’s a little embarrassed about it all. He’s apologised profusely. Not a man who likes people to make a fuss of him.
‘Obviously far too early to make any sort of diagnosis, but the important thing is, that Shaka’s conscious and we spoke to his family as well, because you imagine seeing that happen live.
‘We spoke to his wife and things are looking OK,’ Thomas said, before joking: ‘Silly, Shaka.’

Shaka Hislop played for England at under-21 level before he represented Trinidad and Tobago at senior international level.
Much of his career was spent in the top tier in English football where he was a part of the Newcastle team which finished second in the Premier League for two successive seasons in Kevin Keegan’s first tenure.
Prior to this, he turned out for Reading, where he was on the losing side in the First Division play-offs despite finishing second overall (the only occasion on which second place was not an automatic promotion position).
He had two spells for West Ham, received an FA Cup runners-up medal with during his second season in 2006) and did the same for Portsmouth (where he won the First Division in 2002/03).
Hislop was eligible to play for both England and Trinidad and Tobago, named on the bench for a full International against Chile, but in the end opted to play for Trinidad and Tobago.
A dispute with the national team ruled him out of contention for several years, but he returned to play and took part in the country’s first ever World Cup appearance in 2006.
Hislop these days works for sports news and broadcasting service ESPN where he is most often seen as a commentator on ESPN FC.
He had also briefly worked as a goalkeeping coach for the football team at Quinnipiac University, but resigned as coach due to his media commitments with ESPN.
