An update has been given on the two players involved in a sickening collision with the National League match being abandoned.
The crowd at Eastleigh v Scunthorpe fell silent as play was halted on the 97th minute, scoreline at 1-1, after Eastleigh’s Archie Harris and Scunthorpe’s Jean Belehouan clashed heads.
Both players received on-pitch medical treatment; Harris was briefly unconscious but regained consciousness, given oxygen, and hospitalised.
Eastleigh have since said: “Archie Harris has now been discharged from hospital following a CT scan and several other tests which have come back as all clear. As advised by doctors, Archie will have 48 hours of complete rest before following the concussion guidelines. We are all fully behind Archie during his recovery 💙”
Scunthorpe also said: “Our own Jean Belehouan travelled back on the team coach last night following medical attention at the Silverlake Stadium, with the bus not returning to the Attis Arena until around 6am. Having touched base with JB briefly this morning, he’s feeling much better and thanks everyone for their well wishes and messages.”

Belehouan, wasn’t unconscious, but had a numb face and was in shock but responded well after being wheeled off the pitch. He returned to the dressing room for further checks.
Scunthorpe manager Andy Butler said to BBC Radio Humberside: Belehouan had not lost consciousness but had a “slightly numb face” and was in a “bit of shock from the impact” but “seemed OK”.
“Football and results are nothing compared to the players’ safety so we wish Archie Harris all the best and we hope he makes a full and speedy recovery,” he added.
“He’s had the best possible care, he’s had the ambulance people and three people around him.”
Archie is conscious and responsive in hospital, very scary but hopefully he will be ok. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for Arch and Jean.

At this stage, JB appears to be responding well to testing.
As soon as there are any other updates we will update.”

A message from Archie Harris’ family: “Archie is back at home and sleeping now after being discharged from the hospital in the early hours of the morning. He has a banging headache, a lump on his head, and is a little unsteady on his feet but the CT scan came back as all clear, and he will now follow the strict, necessary guidelines towards making a full recovery. Our thoughts remain with Jean Belehouan who we are relieved to hear is feeling better too. We would like to thank the Eastleigh and Scunthorpe supporters, as well as the wider football community, for their support and wishes during this time. We would also like to express our gratitude to all medical teams and officials who attended to both Archie and Jean.”
