“I will keep you updated. Gutted, I was flying to Portugal at 4pm with @LucyPal16907599.”
Palmer finished the race in two hours, nine and 21 minutes, despite admitting that his problems began in the first mile.
After crossing the finish line, it was then when he seeked medical help before his social media update on Monday morning.
Palmer initially wrote: “Just to let everyone know I am ok, being kept in overnight in hospital observation/tests heart played up again in the first mile but I managed to complete the course. Congratulations to my gorgeous wife for going sub two hours love you.”

He had previously experienced health problems with his heart and was forced to have surgery on it in 2016.
He spoke about his close encounter with death in 2017, after collapsing in a football tournament.
Palmer, who was born in Rowley Regis, collapsed 20 minutes into a Masters football match in Singapore between England and Germany when he was taken to the hospital.
He claims that his legs and hands were numb, and that he could hear alarms warning him of imminent cardiac arrest through the fog of his confused thoughts.
His heart rate soared to over 200 and he never slowed down.
“I was fighting for my life,” said Palmer, recalling the incident, as per Express & Star. “I could feel the air leaving my body. My heart was pounding like it was trying to get out of my chest and it was getting worse.
“I’d always been quite flippant about death. When it comes, it comes, that was my attitude but now all the things I should have done were flashing through my mind.
“Someone was shouting, ‘He’s going to arrest,’ and someone else was shouting: ‘Quickly’ and I was lying on the trolley with my arms and legs over the sides and I thought it was a stupid way to die.”
After correcting Palmer’s heartbeat with high voltage shocks, doctors were able save him.
Later, heart specialists discovered that he was born with an abnormality in the veins surrounding his heart. This could have caused a flutter or atrial fibrillation. Also known as an AFib (an irregular heartbeat),
The five-hour operation involved surgery through his groins to expand the arteries close to his heart.
Although the AFib may recur, he has been assured that there is no reason for him to be concerned.Β He then went off all medications, 10 months after his operation.
Palmer said via his autobiography that his encounter with death taught him a new appreciation for life’s fragility.
He also also talked about his battle with alcohol.
“When I was 12, all I wanted was to become a professional footballer,” said Palmer.
“Looking back, there was never anything better than the feeling of running out at the Hawthorns for the first time and thinking I’ve actually done this. It was a dream come true.”
