An update has been given after the former footballer Paul Gascoigne was ‘rushed to intensive care’ having collapsed at home.

There are fears for Paul Gascoigne who has been rushed to a hospital, currently in intensive care after he was found ‘semi-conscious’ by a friend, having collapsed in the bedroom of his home on Friday evening.

According to reports, an ambulance rushed Gascoigne to Poole Hospital, down in Dorset near Bournemouth where he was admitted to intensive care.

The Sun state that Gazza is out of danger, moving to an acute medical unit where his condition was described as stable.

He’s recovering near his home, expected to remain there for several days for treatment.

And his pal Steve Foster, Gascoigne’s driver and personal assistant, rushed him to hospital, in his car after finding him in a state in his bedroom.

He said Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now, and said Gazza would โ€œlike to thank everyone for the support heโ€™s received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now.โ€

Paul Gascoigne has since sent a message to his friends and family from hospital following his collapse at home. He said to a pal, as reported by the Mirror: “I’m fine” after he was rushed into intensive care at the weekend.

“He has told friends that he is fine and was going to give an update later today,” said a source close to Gazza.

“He has been doing well recently so this was an unexpected setback. He had a full three months without alcohol over the summer while he was doing various speaking engagements and looked really well.”

His stepdaughter Bianca, his two sisters Lindsay and Anna, as well as Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Paul Merson and Vinnie Jones are thought to be keeping tabs on his condition.

In May 2025, Paul spoke positively about his health after years of battling alcohol addiction and mental health problems.

Gascoigne told The Mirror: ‘I feel better now than I have in years. I hope I am at a point that I can look back over everything I’ve gone through with a different, more positive, perspective.

‘After so many years in the spotlight, I feel like it’s time people got to know the real me.’
