A new update emerges on the future of Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton following a dismal start to the 2021/22 campaign.
The East Midlands outfit earned their first point of the season last weekend in a 1-1 draw against rivals Derby County, however pressure has been increasing on Hughton following a run of four losses in four Championship matches at the start of the season.
Some supporters who attended Forest’s defeats to Blackburn and Stoke got rather hostile towards the Reds boss with chants heard chanting ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’, ‘We’re f*cking shit’ as well as singing the name of Hughton’s predecessor, Sabri Lamouchi.

But the former Brighton manager Hughton remains in charge for the time being at the City Ground and ended the transfer window with nine summer signings.
Ex-Forest striker Birtles says the transfer window and international break provides the boss with a moment to reflect and needs extra time to turn around his side’s form.
He told NottinghamshireLive‘s Garibaldi Red podcast: “You’ve got to give him a chance now. He’s got time to work with a squad now.
“It’s not totally his squad, but he’s got to work with it. They’ve got three games coming up now and if it all goes wrong in that week he knows he won’t be at the City Ground any more.
“He knows that. We all do. That’s how football is. If we lose three on the trot, which I don’t think we will, we’re massively adrift.
“I think we’ll win against Cardiff and that will give confidence.”
Fellow guest, Forest fan Michael Temple added: “He’s not Dane’s man. He’s an inherited manager who has been backed and has an excellent reputation.
“You’re soon forgotten in football though. Three wins in a row and he’s a hero. Three defeats in a row and it will be time for a change.”
Meanwhile, Chris Hughton responds to increasing criticism from Nottingham Forest fans, saying: “The game is based on results.
“Sometimes it can be a bad performance, but mostly it’s about results. And we are not in a good place at the moment.
“What we have as a club, as regards the numbers which turn up for games, is outstanding in this division. From the home and away games, I think we’ve got the top attendances.
“Supporters get caught up in the emotions of the game, and that’s what football is all about. What you can never do is take those emotions away from the supporters.
“Always, you have to accept it’s their club. And it will be their club in 10 years’ time, 20 years’ time, 30 years’ time, and it was theirs 10 years ago or 20 years ago.
“You have to understand that’s where it is.
“On anything that’s personal, you have to have broad shoulders and thick skin, and have confidence in the work you do.”
“The only thing I can tell you is, if I’m looking at how we’ve played, we’ve played with two wingers and with two forward players, in a centre forward and Brennan (Johnson),” he added. “Or if Joao (Carvalho) has played, he is very much an offensive player and got goals in the previous round of the Carabao Cup.
“We are putting offensive players on the pitch.
“If I look at the full-backs we have, I would say Jordan Gabriel is a very offensive-minded full-back.
“We’ve had difficulties at left-back and we’ve had difficulties in central midfield, with James Garner now coming in.
“As regards a way of playing, I think we are putting enough offensive players on the pitch.
“On any balance I’ve had, it has had to be around what players are available to us and the type of players available to us. That’s all you can do.
“There will always be two sides to the game.
“In three of our four league games, we have conceded two goals.
“I certainly think we are putting enough offensive players on the pitch, and it’s about getting the combinations right.”
“It’s always challenging when you go through difficult periods and experience some reactions,” he said to Nottingham Live. “But the way you have to look at it is, it’s part and parcel of the job.
“If you didn’t like it, then management is not for you. I’ve been doing it for a while.
“Even though it’s difficult at times and it can get personal, you have to accept that those criticisms are there.
“If you are a manager that’s never getting criticised, or a team that’s never getting criticised, then it’s because you’re a team that’s winning all the time – and that applies to only a very small percentage of teams.
“It comes with it.
“It can be very challenging at times and not easy, particularly when it gets personal. But these are the areas of the game you have to accept are there, and work as hard as you can to change that.”
An update emerges on the future of Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton following fans’ chants…
@joe__need: Doesn’t half make you ashamed of some of our fans for singing ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’. Chanting ‘attack attack’ and even booing is one thing, but to make a joke about our own manager losing his job is pretty disgraceful behaviour.
@ForestfcSs: It ain’t just about this season forest was shocking last season
@justyl0ve: We’ve got attacking players on the pitch, but we’re set up to go forward at a pedestrian pace, giving opposition time to set and defend. There is zero connection between our defence and attack
@LoyalRed21: 🦖 #HughtonOut
@HomeDrizzy: SACK HIM
@white7980: Nothing changes he’s still gotta go!
@teaguestar: Don’t bottle this . Change is required.
@ben_f_1: That second half is way we should play every game, either he makes that happen or he goes
@Iukemoss: one point out of a possible 15. yeah we had one good half again but still hughton needs binning
@rikiwilson92: Our first point of the season, we were very lucky not to concede two penalties to be honest! CH has to go now, we can’t be happy with a point or scraping for points each game. We have such potential, but just wrong management
@d_p_ball: I think we either can’t afford to sack him or the hierarchy are taking a massive chance in backing his plan and signings. He must have told them that if targets are landed then the better football will follow. Massive massive risk but I just can’t see him being sacked #nffc
@petethe_pirate: I’d still like to see a change in manager. Steve Cooper for me. He’s great with youngsters, plays good football, and is tactically aware of how to change a game.
@NeilNeilquinn3: Now do what most fans want and sack Hughton and get a manager in that doesn’t use dinosaur tactics. 27% win rate would get anyone manager sacked #sackhughton
