Two non league playoff matches postponed due to ongoing FA enquiry

Ready to get confused everyone? Right then, two non league playoff matches have been postponed due to ongoing FA enquiry.

The playoffs are a struggle to understand as it is this season, however Stratford Town were due to play Kings Lynn tomorrow.

But the Southern Premier Playoff tie’s now been postponed while The FA investigate Stratford for allegedly playing an ineligible player.

Stratford Town’s statement: “Wednesday’s semi play off semi final vs Kings Lynn has unfortunately been postponed & we will keep you all updated when we hear further from the FA.

“We have received a letter from the FA on the 29th April regards an alleged ineligible player and potential points deduction. The FA asked us to supply relevant information by lunchtime April 30th which we will comply with. We await the outcome from the FA and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and we hope a swift conclusion. The Club will make no further comment until we have heard further from the FA.”

The chairman of Kings Lynn, Stephen Cleeve, had his say over their postponed playoff: “The situation with our play off games is farcical – the lads deserve to be treated fairly and be given the same rest periods as the other semi finalists – anything else favours the other finalists and fives them an advantage. Not blaming Stratford but this situation arose in February why is it only being dealt with at the eleventh hour? The other semi final must be played on the same day as ours and of course the NFL winners get stress free extra time to prepare for super final. Total mess.

“As a club if the outcome is not fair to our club I will not hesitate to take legal action and protect all the hard work that everyone has put in this season – this process has already started. The whole affair stinks of incompetence-enough is enough.”

Meanwhile the other Southern League Premier Central Playoff has also been postponed.

Stourbridge were due to host Alvechurch tomorrow, but they won’t play until The FA finish their investigation into Stratford Town.

Alvechurch said: “Tomorrow nights play-off semi-final match at Stourbridge has been postponed ‘in the interests of fairness’.

“The Evo-Stik South Board has decided that ‘in the best interests of fairness’ our scheduled match on Wednesday v Stourbridge is to be postponed.

“They are waiting on the Board’s decision on the day it is to be played and will advise us as soon as possible (either Friday or Saturday).

“The play-off Final is still to take place on Monday 6th May. We’ll let you know as soon as we know, but my guess is it will be Friday with final on the Monday. On the positive, we can all watch Barcelona v Liverpool tomorrow night now!!”

After learning of all these postponements and current situation, fans took to social media to give their thoughts – find out what fans on each club’s account said on the next page.
