A Twitter user hilariously fools fans and bookies into making Paul Ince the current favourite for the Sheffield Wednesday job.
@JAC1867 tweeted along with a photo showing a series of messages, claiming Paul Ince had got a job at the Championship club and was set to be announced: “Just been sent this. Presumably ‘Dools’ is Liam Dooley? #swfc
Word got about and this led to fans putting money on Ince being the new Owls boss, so much so that majority of Friday, he was named the favourite with various bookies including the likes of Sky Bet and BetVictor.

Ince being new bookies favourite caught the attention of various accounts on Twitter during the same morning.
Even various media outlets reported on it including Yorkshire Post, Sporting Life, Sheffield Star, Liverpool World, Yorkshire Live, and others.
After seeing how much attention this was getting, @JAC1867 replied to one user, saying” “Thought it’d get one or two, not this many though 😭”
Sheffield Wednesday journalist for The Star, Joe Crann, was also asked about Ince, to which he said it was a hoax and added “Think I’m going to have to mute the word ‘Ince’ on my Twitter”.
@JAC1867 couldn’t help but try and tease fans further by issuing another post, claiming that Ince had following Chansiri.

SKY BET ODDS (as of 23rd June – 1pm)
Paul Ince – 1/2
Nathan Jones – 4/1
Steven Gerrard – 5/1
Bruno Lage – 10/1
Vítor Campelos – 14/1
Torsten Lieberknecht – 16/1
Carlos Carvalhal – 18/1
Dean Smith – 20/1
Paul Ince still remains the bookies favourite despite the hoax, Carlos Carvalhal had previously been the favourite when the odds were released, before Chansiri said at the fans forum that the definitely wouldn’t be appointing him, yet again he remains listed by the bookies.
Joe Crann has since informed: “For all those asking, my understanding is that #SWFC are still in the shortlist phase of the managerial hunt as they search for Darren Moore’s replacement…
“Interviews are set to follow once the undoubtedly long list of submitted CVs is whittled down.”
Another story that saw the bookies fooled came a few seasons back.
Aberdeen fans invented a fake manager who was listed among favourites for vacant job following the departure of Derek McInnes on Monday.
A group of the Scottish club’s fanbase created a fake manager named Ross Nicholson, who appeared on Sky Bet’s list to become the new Aberdeen manager.
They even went to the lengths of setting up a fake Wikipedia page under their friend’s name as a prank, and rather hilariously “Ross Nicholson” was suddenly at a 10-1 shot on the bookmaker’s site for job, having the same odds as former Dons player Alex McLeish.
The Wikipedia page (which was then taken down) listed the supposed 45-year-old Nicholson’s current club as “Diznei Exzest” (to sound like ‘Doesn’t Exist’), so you’d expect that would have at least been picked up by Sky Bet.
Before too long, but long enough, Sky Bet eventually took his name down after discovering that he isn’t in fact a real football manager or even a person at all.
A few Aberdeen fans have created a fake Wikipedia profile under their friend’s name – Ross Nicholson – and managed to get him sitting at 10/1 on SkyBet for next manager odds 😂 pic.twitter.com/mFL33bqp1k
