Tranmere and MK Dons fans get into pathetic fight after MK Dons win with help of worst throw-in ever

Tranmere and MK Dons fans decided to get into a rather pathetic fight after MK Dons win with the help of the worst throw-in ever.

It seems trouble brewed outside Prenton Park as the two sets of supporters clashed following the League Two fixture on Saturday afternoon.

The two groups can be seen really going at it throwing punches again a brick wall, with stewards watching on and police having to intervene.

Footage of the scrap was published onto social media, with it going on to get thousands of views as well as hundreds of likes and comments in the process…

The game itself saw MK Dons returned to winning ways in dramatic fashion with a late goal snatching a 2-1 victory at Tranmere.

They took the lead on the 9th minute when Alex Gilbey made his way through the Tranmere defence following a disastrous throw-in attempt and sent one flying from 25 yards out.

Rovers got back on level terms three minutes later with Kieron Morris seeing his effort on the edge of the box deflected past keeper Michael Kelly, who couldn’t do anything about it.

MK Dons went on the threat and nearly got back in front just before the break as with Tranmere keeper Luke McGee stopping chances from Joe Tomlinson and Gilbey.

The away side continued putting pressure on, and substitute Ellis Harrison was then to score from a corner to snatch all three points.

Things turned ugly at the end of the game, with the MK Dons dugout celebrating going down badly with Tranmere fans.

MKCitizen report that Max Dean had to be restrained and taken down the tunnel.

The result leaves MK Dons 7th in League Two with 42 points from 25 games played, eight points from 3rd place Mansfield.

Tranmere however are 18th with 33 points from 28 games played, 9 points from the playoff places and 14 points above the drop zone.

TRANMERE ROVERS: McGee, Pike (Yarney 90+3), Davies (c), Turnbull, Wood (J. Norris 90+3), Apter, Walker (Hawkes 79’), Hendry, Morris (McAlear 68’), Jennings, Jolley (Lewis 68’)

SUBS NOT USED: Murphy, Dennis

MILTON KEYNES DONS: Kelly, Norman, Lewington (c), O’Hora, Williams, Gilbey, Payne, Tomlinson, Dean (Harrison 72’), Kemp, Lofthouse (Leko 72’)

SUBS NOT USED: MacGillivray, Eisa, Smith, Grant

MK Dons boss Mike Williamson said on the full time scenes, as per MKCitizen: “I don’t know if it was (Dean) in particular, there was a lot of us up, elated with the last minute winner.

“We were celebrating, and the fans didn’t take too kindly to it. It wasn’t one person, it was a collective thing and you can understand their frustration when you concede a last minute goal like that, but it’s good for us.

“Credit to the lads – these are the moments you’re in football for. It was a really good performance from front to back and we deserved it. And the way we did it at the end, it was good to top it off.

“We can have no criticism of the performance, the scoreline was frustrating but in context, it was a deflected shot and we lacked that finishing touch in the final third. But ultimately, we got three points and it was a comprehensive performance.”

Tranmere boss Nigel Adkins said to tranmererovers.co.uk: “We knew they were going to be a possession-based side,” said Adkins. “Our game plan was to be a compact shape, to be aggressive in the press to then intercept and counter.

“It’s fair to say we weren’t good enough. Even when we got the ball, we kept giving it away.

“We’ll have a hard, long look at ourselves. We’ll see what lessons we can learn from it. That starts with me.”

Meanwhile, Tranmere Rovers striker Charlie Jolley said to the club website: “We’ve conceded a minute over what we’ve given but that’s no excuse.

“We’ve conceded from a corner. We work on set pieces, we know when teams are a threat. They’re a big team. The lad comes on and scores at the end.

“It was difficult, when you’re not at the best, you’re not at the races, it’s kind of a tough one to take because if we come away 1-1, I know we’re on a good run of form and you want to win every game but sometimes you can’t and the points at the end of the season do add up.

“Unfortunately today, we conceded in the last minute.”
