Before Tranmere went and beat Fleetwood 1-0, fans were left in disbelief at Will Davies’ follow-up was cleared off the line.
On the 6th minute, Fleetwood almost went ahead in the sixth minute with Matty Virtue’s close-range effort was saved by Joe Murphy before Will Davies somehow missed the opportunity to score, after finding his feet, a chance was kept out by Jordan Turnbull.
Whitaker also saw his effort come back off the crossbar from close range following a corner.
The only goal of the game came thanks to Charlie Whitaker in the 23rd minute, a volley from close range after Kristian Dennis’ header.

Tranmere manager Andy Crosby said: “We weren’t perfect but we showed some resilience, that was the most important thing.
“We put in a big boys’ performance and did a lot of the dirty work, which I’ve obviously questioned over the last few days.
“Without being negative, I think it was an open game. At the start, they had some opportunities and then so did we.
“In moments previously, we have conceded and have generally been unable to swim against the tide and gone under.
“But when we were up against it in the second half, we showed some resilience and some unity and some passion, some togetherness to stick in there and suffer collectively.
“We’ve been found wanting too many times this season, but today we weren’t.”
1⃣5⃣0⃣ Joe Murphy spoke to the media after marking his 150th Club appearance with a clean sheet and three points.

Fleetwood manager Pete Wild said: “The story of the game is that we had a mad 10 minutes.
“We don’t defend a cross well and then we have all the ball, we have them pinned in their own half for all the game. We had enough chances to win two football matches today.
“Performance-wise it was really good, and we created chances, but we’ve got to take those chances.
“We’ve also got to stop giving teams a leg up when the last thing they deserve is a leg up.
“We should have been two up in the first 10 minutes and their goalkeeper has done amazing.
“Sometimes you don’t get what you deserve. The process was good but we didn’t get the outcome today, which is highly frustrating.
“I don’t think we were helped by the officials, who didn’t get a grip of the time wasting, but we’ve got to take our chances and that’s the story of the game.”
Social media users reacted as before Tranmere went and beat Fleetwood 1-0, fans were left in disbelief at Will Davies’ follow-up was cleared off the line…
@jmwdesignss: It was even better in the stands 😅
@asapholic_trfc: Can’t believe he didn’t just first time side foot it!
@addo163: Jordan Turnbull is the only player I’ve ever seen who’s better on his back.
@froggy0806: Think everyone in the ground watching this was in utter disbelief at how this didn’t go in 😂
@Corpachbhoy: Tell me about it, I’m right behind the goal. They were battering us at that point (was handball just prior tho). However, if Jenno had scored the 1 on 1 just after that, it’d have knocked the stuffing out of them. Both teams decent and we needed some heroic defending at times
@froggy0806: A small change of luck is sometimes what you need to wake up and that was it. Could’ve easily been 3 or 4 down by the time that chance came
@Corpachbhoy: Agree. It was said around me, and on here, it was the Joe Murphy show up till then. Back the Team, sack the regime.
@froggy0806: For the age he is, he’s been able to pull off some crazy saves which would have arguably left us chasing shadows
@jmwdesignss: A HUGE game for Jordan Turnbull today, as I thought he really impressed. Especially somehow stopping this chance.
@ftfcRedford: Number 9 on his back surely you just welly it as hard as you can from that far out
@ham_ezz: This football clubs fucking hilarious sometimes ykno
@BellegardeSZN: I’d be fucking raging 😭😭😭
@Itslowtide: I thought our finishing was bad, Jesus Christ. Gift wrapped you the game in the first 20 minutes and you said no thanks!?
@TheLeonKearney: Lads how on earth did you lose that game? We were absolutely honking and you couldn’t hit a barn door. I expected one of your 247 attacks to at least end up in the back of the net. I’d be seething losing that to us today 😆😆
@Egle9611: Shooting practice during the week, so poor in front of goal.
