Tottenham fans fume at Daniel Levy and Ange Postecoglou with Son in tears after Everton defeat

Tottenham fans fume at Daniel Levy and Ange Postecoglou with Son Heung-min seen in tears after the 3-2 defeat to Everton.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Iliman Ndiaye put the hosts into a two goal lead in the first half, with Archie Gray also scoring an own goal.

Spurs scored late goals through Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison but couldn’t find that equaliser, meaning they are just eight points above the Premier League relegation zone and four ahead of Everton.

The Tottenham fans voiced their anger throughout the game, and repeatedly called for chairman Daniel Levy to leave the club. Pressure also increases on Ange Postecoglou. Just have a look below…

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Sky Sports:

“Yeah difficult result. Obviously first half we really struggled within the game, gave ourselves a mountain to climb. The players tried to claw the game back in the second half but just fell short.

“We couldn’t really take control of the game. We struggled to gain any traction with the ball, without the ball. We had some chances also where we probably should have capitalised early on. But in the end it wasn’t enough.

“We’re pretty stretched, we only had 11 fit players today, you try to restructure a little bit. We weren’t in total control of our organisation, particularly early on, Everton capitalised on it a couple of times and we paid a price for it.

“We had a fair share of the game second half, we finished strong, I thought Richarlison made a difference when he came on and Mikey on the lefthand side had a little more joy getting in behind.

“There will be [a sense of urgency in the transfer window], it doesn’t need me to say that, I think everyone can see that. I have no issue with the way the club is going about it, they’re working hard and trying to find solutions for us. These players need help, for sure. Hopefully in the next 10 days we find a solution for it.

“It’s hard to say [if he is confident]. It’s really tricky. The club is working hard to find a solution for it.

“We look at the situation we’re in, it will eventually dissipate in terms of player availability, then we give ourselves an opportunity to at least get some consistency in games and performances.

“We keep fighting. I haven’t lost belief or determination to turn it around. The second half the players showed they’re not throwing the towel in. We’ll get our way through this.

“They’ll [the fans] be disappointed, absolutely. This is the situation we’re in. They’re probably frustrated at that inability to get results we need to to change our fortunes in the league, that’s understandable. We’re in control of that.”

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison talking to Sky Sports: “Too little too late, wasn’t it? We’re in a tough moment there’s no denying it. It was a tough afternoon.

“They were quite direct but we should do better for the goals. We need to be more resilient, tougher to score against really, collectively. It was a tough first half.

“We’re in a tough moment with a very depleted squad. There is no excuse for the first half. The message at half time was to be resilient and take a bit of pride and we nearly got back it into but it was too little too late. It was a tough afternoon.

“We had 11 fit senior players ready to start. There is context to it. Despite that, the first half was unacceptable. The fans will have their opinion and criticise, and rightly so. We just have to stare that in the face and take it on the chin. They probably don’t want to see me talking too much, they want to a see a reaction and we’ve got an opportunity to do that at Hoffenheim on Thursday.”

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin talking to Sky Sports: “I am really pleased. It has been a tough patch for myself. I’m delighted with how we went today, we needed a win for the lads and the club.

“Everything clicked today. You go through periods where you’re not hitting the back of net or getting the rub of the green. We were defensively solid and built from that.

“I have been in the Premier League a long time now so it is not my first rodeo.”

Everton manager David Moyes talking to BBC Match of the Day: “It feels fantastic. It has been a relatively difficult week with two games against difficult opponents. We didn’t do too bad in midweek but we did a really good job today, especially in the first half. Once they got one it was a little bit scary I have to be honest.

“Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] had three big chances in midweek and was a little bit unlucky. If they get chances you are saying ‘come on, it is your job to score it’ so maybe confidence is coming back into his game. He played more like a traditional centre forward today and was a real handful for them. He probably could have scored another one today but that is a good start for him.

“Sometimes centre forwards just need goals and then can start to work on things they need to do better. He doesn’t feel like he’s been getting chances but the past couple of games he has been.

“Everybody has to chip in because goals have certainly been difficult to come by here.

“I thought we played well today. The three points will give us a lot of confidence. It was unlike us to concede goals but you can’t take away from what Tottenham do.”

Twitter users gave their reaction as Tottenham fans fume at Daniel Levy and Ange Postecoglou with Son also seen in tears after defeat at Everton…

@SpursShirt: Let’s get serious! We are in a relegation battle @SpursOfficial 🤬

@SetoTheTruth: Son you should be looking at a mirror rather than the away end. A bunch of them should

@drjlaw1994: Does this feel like the inevitable ending of Ange to you? After everything you’ve seen before

@AndyPorter0801: It’s absolutely embarrassing being a spurs fan these days. The owners don’t care about the club, and they are fast making a lot of fans feel the same way. It’s sad to see.

@goodyspurs: Can’t disrespect son for everything he has done but he is now a sub and impact player at best. Definitely not captain material either.

@Welly_UK: Too nice a bloke to be captain. The club needs someone who is going to dig into players and demand more on the pitch. We all love what he’s done for the club but the armband should never have been given to him

@Pedro00777: Ange and the players have been let done by #LevyOut although they have been spineless. Son unfortunately is finished as a top player and probably needs to move on. Ange is not the answer but nothing changes until Levy and Enic sell up and move on

@thfcadi: sonny can fuck off. times like this when you’re captain needs to step up. blew 3 great chances today, can’t control a football to save his life. i adore what he’s done for the club but he needs to go.

@roccothfc: Son needs to accept that his time is up. Had a sitter to make it 1-1, we could’ve gone on to win if he buried that, we will miss Dom dearly these next few weeks

@gapp008: Too many players in that team need to take a good look at themselves cause they were so poor in what was a relegation dogfight. Ange tactically wrong again. Won’t change. Embarrassing. Bournemouth had 11 first team fit players yesterday and played with heart. We don’t have that.

@craigdermody70: Seriously…how do ENIC survive this??? Years of neglect in the transfer market & this is exactly what you deserve! Let every manager down who’s served under them, now it’s Anges turn! Mid Jan & still dragging their heels in the transfer market cuz it’s difficult in January 😂🤣😂

@LiamKen36796787: Travesty of a performance. Shocking formation first half. Ange and Levy are equally culpable. We are walking into relegation.

@DinosD1961: Heung-min Son is always sorry. If he cared, his performance would have been better today. He was a no show. Is he playing so bad because of age, injury or no longer wants to play for Ange.

@MarcSco26629125: Sonny sadly was culpable again after asking for players to step up. Missed major chances and pondering during most of the game

@kevski07: I really really don’t want to dislike Sonny but his performances have been shocking at best. He’s a legend at our club but he’s dusted

@KierenFlanagan: Son is terrible now, players should be ashamed of themselves. Ange shouldn’t even be allowed in the changing room
