Tottenham fan squirts ketchup and stamps on Harry Kane shirt as player says his goodbyes

A Tottenham fan squirts ketchup and stamps on a Harry Kane shirt as the player says his goodbyes amid joining Bayern Munich.

@Gillespie2704 tweeted: “My grandad bought me this shirt just before he died. He was a POW in Germany during WW2 and died a few miles away from White Hart Lane.

“Despite Harry Kane no longer being a POW at Tottenham , ironically he died to me the second he stepped foot in Germany. #COYS #TTID ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค”

Harry Kane is Tottenham’s all-time record scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances, with the Spurs academy graduate leaving his boyhood club to join Bayern Munich on four-year deal and could make his debut in Saturday night’s game between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.

Kane said in his farewell: “I’m sad to be leaving the club I’ve spent nearly 20 years of my life at, from an 11-year-old boy to a 30-year-old man. There have been so many great moments and special memories that I will cherish forever.

“And mostly thank you to you the Tottenham fans. From the moment I’ve been playing I’ve been one of your own and I’ve given everything I possibly could to make you proud and give you as many special moments and memories that will hopefully last forever.

“I felt this was the time to leave. I didn’t want to go into the season with a lot of unresolved future talk. I think it’s important for the new manager and the players to concentrate on trying to get Tottenham to around the top of the table and fighting for trophies.

“I wish Ange and the boys all the very best of luck. Obviously I will be watching from a fan’s point of view now and I really hope the team can be successful.

“This is a message to all you fans around the world, every single Tottenham fan has supported and been with me throughout my journey. Me and my family will cherish it forever. We’ll never forget all the moments we’ve had together so thank you. I’ll be watching the season.

“Good luck to Tottenham and the whole club. It’s not a goodbye because you never know how things pan out in the future. Thank you and see you soon.”

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said: “We sought over a long period of time to engage Harry and his representatives in several forms of contract extension, both short and long term. Harry was clear, however, that he wanted a fresh challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer. We have reluctantly, therefore, agreed to his transfer.

“We have seen a product of our academy system become one of the best players to ever pull on a Spurs shirt and become one of world football’s elite strikers. It has been a truly remarkable journey.

“Harry’s achievements and records say everything about the player, and throughout his 19 years at the club, Harry has been a model professional, on and off the pitch and an inspiration for young players who dream of following in his footsteps.

“I should like to thank Harry for everything he’s done for us, all the memories, all the records – we wish him and his family all the best for the future. It goes without saying, he’s always welcome back. He’s a much loved and valued member of the Spurs family, forever in our history.”

Twitter users reacted as a Tottenham fan squirts ketchup and stamps on a Harry Kane shirt as the player says his goodbyes…

@hctelfih: you disrespected your grandad and a gift he got you for 37 likes on social mediaโ€ฆ I canโ€™t believe these football twitter nerds actually walk around among society, they definitely donโ€™t have any social skills

@dannyw1989: What the fuck is he trying to do here, destroy this shirt or season it?

@TomWush: A grown man ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ does he not know how expensive ketchup is these days?

@RossiterTHFC: The only person youโ€™ve disrespected here is your Grandad. So thatโ€™s quite sad really.

@ADFoxcroft: Oh grow up

Q- How do you feel about Harry Kane Leaving Spurs?
A -hold my coat mate, I’m going outside to squirt some ketchup all over my socks.

@Den_AFC: These lot really are a different kind Iโ€™m telling you

@SSE_LTFC: This is hands down one of the absolute cringiest things I’ve ever witnessed on this app and that’s saying something.

@easygoingmaloy: Grown up adult male puts ketchup and chocolate mousse on football shirt in midst of existential crisis over a football player leaving the club he supports

@joeferrett: Heโ€™s ruined a good sock, there

@jamiebuckland: I wonder what the chap felt like when Klinsmann, Freund, Ziege and Holtby pulled on the Spurs shirt? Every German I know despises the regime that ran Germany back then. If brains were dynamite he wouldnโ€™t have enough to blow the wax out of his ears.

@Jayes96: Video stopped , shirt straight in the washing machine , ironed and wore to bed while crying

@goose_jz: Putting your white socked foot on it is also a weird decision. Very Spursy this video.

@SalfordMe2023: Mate, you can’t have much respect for your Granddad if you can burn his love for you that easily. Wouldn’t care what it was, I’d cherish it – you’ll regret that one day.

@DanielW75886867: What an absolute looser! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Bringing the war into a football transfer. Jesus Christ, Iโ€™m sure your grandfather is absolutely proud, and jumping with joy looking down watching you doing this.

@scotp09: Destroying the last gift from his grandad. #Disrespectful

@BurneyMcr1: Ruined his socks.

@RMaskell1981: Todays society ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ we’re fucked….

@CraigHarding10: Strange beyond words

@Arun_Chowdhury: Find stuff like this pathetic

@JBoldsy: Bruh what? ๐Ÿคก

@annemar66955741: What a waste of tomato ketchup , ยฃ4.25 bottle for a large one ๐Ÿคฃ

@cjcmacleod1980: Should be ashamed. The guy has given his best and more for spurs for many a year and they’ve won nothing. He’s been kept hostage and lied to since the last contract with multiple requests to leave turned down. A good move for him.
