The top 20 biggest spenders in football between 2009 and 2019

It’s fair to say money spent on players in the last 10 years has gone extreme, with clubs across Europe breaking their record transfer fee.

In the summer of 2009, Real Madrid shocked the world by signing Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo for £80million.

It was an eye-watering amount at the time, but since then, that total as been smashed TEN times with Neymar setting the record at £198million when he swapped Barcelona for PSG.
