The non league super playoff final results – who’s promoted to National League North & South?

Finally, the headache that was the playoffs at Step 3 is over as we now know who has won the two non league super finals.

Those ‘super playoffs’ was an altered promotion playoff process was implemented for the 2018-19 season for clubs to reach the National Leagues North and South for the 2019-20 season.

Usually, three teams were relegated each from the North and South leaving six vacancies to fill. Each of the winners of the four Step 3 leagues were automatically promoted to the National Leagues North & South for 2019-20.

The Champions of the Step 3 leagues and going straight up are:

Isthmian League: Dorking Wanderers
Northern League: Farsley Celtic
Southern Premier Central: Kettering Town
Southern Premier South: Weymouth

Each of the four leagues ran a playoff involving the teams finishing from second to fifth. The winners of these proceeded to the Super Playoffs. The playoff winners are:

Isthmian League: Tonbridge Angels
Northern League: Warrington Town
Southern Premier Central: King’s Lynn Town
Southern Premier South: Metropolitan Police

 

The winners of the following two fixtures are promoted:

– WARRINGTON TOWN 2-3 (aet) KING’S LYNN TOWN

(Scorers – 15′ Richards, 17′ & 59′ Garrity, 85′ Marriott, 114′ Gash)

Warrington found themselves one down after 15 minutes before getting an equaliser two minutes later.

They got themselves ahead when they scored a second goal half way through the second half.

The Wire had a set back though as King’s Lynn got a late leveller through a penalty with five minutes of the 90 remaining.

On the 114th minute mark of extra time, the hosts received a sucker punch as the travelling side found the far corner to win his side promotion to the National League North.

 

– METROPLITAN POLICE 2-3 (aet) TONBRIDGE ANGELS

(Scorers – 18′ Chislett, 52′, Lee, 57′ Robinson, 86′ Theobalds, 97′ Derry)

Met Police went ahead 1-0 after 18 minutes and held on to that scoreline until the conceded in the 52nd minute.

The hosts again got themselves in front roughly five minutes later, however with five minutes remaining, they again saw Tonbridge equalise and nearly get a winner but cleared on the line.

Extra time saw Angels keep at it and again found the net in the 96th minute to go into the lead for the first time in the game. They held on a won promotion to the National League South.
