The full Premier League table in five years has been predicted

The full Premier League table in five years has been predicted by HITC Sport’s ‘The Irish Guy’, and it’s certainly got a huge amount of attention on social media.

We all know how hard it is just to predict the entire Premier League table before a season starts, even bookmakers Coral challenged punters to it one year, meaning it was very unlikely a winner would come off the back of their prediction.

Who could have thought Leicester City would win the 2016 title, it goes to show you can guarantee that the teams won’t finish where you predict them to, even if you’re just a few positions out.

HITC Sport gave it a try, but for how the 2024/25 season would look over on their YouTube channel, find out by watching the video or reading the list below…

20th | SUNDERLAND

Justifying this decision by insisting he hasn’t taken a fall, ‘The Irish Guy’ believes ‘hand on heart’ that Sunderland will have scrambled back to the big time by 2024. They’ll finish rock bottom, mind.

19th | WEST BROM

This looks a pretty solid call considering Albion’s yo-yo status and they’re being predicted to sack Dean Smith by Christmas, eventually going down after making Michael Appleton their interim boss.

18th | CHARLTON

A brave decision, but not totally unfeasible with Charlton soundly adjusting to Championship life this season. ‘The Irish Guy’ predicts Scott Parker will be in charge by the time they’re relegated in 2025.

17th | CRYSTAL PALACE

It looks highly doubtful that either Roy Hodgson or Wilfried Zaha will be at Selhurst Park in five years’ time, so the Eagles are forecast to struggle with Dougie Freedman – of all people – at the helm.

16th | MIDDLESBROUGH

‘The Irish Guy’ is tipping the north-east club to make a solid return to Premier League football on the presumption that Jonathan Woodgate, Paddy McNair and Ashley Fletcher all leave the club. Brutal.

15th | LEICESTER

A lot can change in five years and when you consider Leicester were fighting relegation half a decade ago, this decision doesn’t seem as brutal as it might at first glance.

The HITC presenter is confident that Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu, Jamie Vardy, Jonny Evans, Ben Chilwell, James Maddison and Kasper Schmeichel will all have waved goodbye by 2024.

14th | BURNLEY

Dubbed the ‘new Stoke’ and ‘mid-table plodders,’ Burnley are predicted to maintain their Premier League status for at least five more years and they reckon Sean Dyche will still be in the dugout.

13th | WEST HAM

‘The Irish Guy’ admitted that he almost predicted the Hammers to be relegated, but he changed his mind to a mid-table finish with former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe taking the reins.

12th | WOLVES

On the assumption that this new Wolves era doesn’t suffer the same fate as Fulham, Swansea and Portsmouth’s equivalents, it seems pretty fair to place the Molineux-based side in 12th place.

11th | LEEDS

If this forecast comes true, it will have been 20 years since Leeds’ initial Premier League relegation and finishing miles clear of the bottom three would be the perfect way to forget the Championship.

10th | QPR

We think most of the decisions on this list can be justified, but selecting QPR in the top half seems like a complete shot in the dark. Anything can happen in football, but we can’t see this prediction happening.

9th | NEWCASTLE

The top-half looks pretty accurate for Newcastle on the proviso that Mike Ashley is no longer owner; the Longstaff’s are still at the club and Giovanni van Bronckhorst is their ambitious head coach.

8th | ASTON VILLA

Villa aren’t producing the sort of form on their Premier League return to make an eighth-place finish look accurate quite yet, but HITC are feeling positive despite predicting Jack Grealish to leave the club.

7th | TOTTENHAM

An interesting one. ‘The Irish Guy’ believes Spurs will stagnate after a successful period with Jose Mourinho, who will leave to manage Portugal, and will suffer from a ‘mass exodus’ of their star players.

6th | EVERTON

Farhad Moshiri will surely have brought about success after nine seasons splashing the cash and Rafael Benitez, Ross Barkley, Ben Chilwell and Wilfried Zaha are all tipped to join the club by 2024.

5th | ARSENAL

As much as Arsenal fans would like to dismiss the idea of Brendan Rodgers and Callum Chambers being at the club in 2024, it rings pretty accurate for the post-Champions League Gunners.

4th | LIVERPOOL

‘The Irish Guy’ makes a good point that only one member of Liverpool’s current starting XI is under 25 years old and a steady slide to fourth place without Jurgen Klopp looks more than plausible.

3rd | MAN UTD

Didier Deschamps is the 2024-25 manager of HITC’s choosing, while the English trio of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Maddison are forecast to be playing for the title-challenging Red Devils.

2nd | MAN CITY

A 2024 prediction that features no Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane or Pep Guardiola certainly looks bleak, but Sheikh Mansour’s investment should keep City ticking over.

Phil Foden as captain and Mikel Arteta as manager is the vision here, although their football will likely resemble the type of play seen under Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini.

1st | CHELSEA

‘The Irish Guy’ has predicted Chelsea to win the Premier League in five years, believing Frank Lampard will have bucked the Roman Abramovich trend by avoiding the sack in five years’ time and will have the homegrown talent to bag a Premier League crown.
