Ten Hag gets fiery with reporter, Slot publicly exposes Man Utd’s weaknesses, TAA on the wind up

Erik Ten Hag gets fiery with a reporter, Arne Slot publicly exposes Man Utd’s weaknesses, and TAA was on the wind up after the final whistle.

Manchester United continued their dismal record against Liverpool by losing 3-0 at Old Trafford; Luis Diaz netting twice and Mohamed Salah adding the third.

Casemiro was also subbed at half time after two costly mistakes. Liverpool fans in the away end could be heard singing “Ten Hag is at the wheel”, “Who the f**k are Man United?” and doing Olé’s as Man Utd fans were seen leaving Old Trafford after going went 3-0 down.

The result means Arne Slot keeps his perfect 100% record in the Premier League, going into the first international break, three wins from three, seven goals scored, zero conceded.

Player of the match: Luis Diaz.

As can be seen above, Erik ten Hag clashed with a journalist after he asked a question that all Manchester United fans are thinking.

He said: “We will build this new team. We have young players also. We have now players to build in, in the season. Today we had I think two players, three players first start of the season and they didn’t play 90 minutes. We will be fine. But it’s clear we have to improve. But in the end of the season I’m quite confident again we will have a big chance to lift another trophy.”

Reporter: “What makes you confident that its players that are the problem and not your coaching?”

Ten Hag: “So what do you mean? Tell me then. Explain me. Maybe explain me which mistakes we make regular…”

Reporter: “Constantly turning the ball over In your own half. Playing the ball out from back, getting mugged. Chances come on the back of it. Counter attacks when they’re outnumbered. Giving up endless chances in your own stadium against the team. Team champions, biggest rivals. The greatest respect team. We’ve seen that for no longer.”

Ten Hag: “You are sure?

Reporter: “Absolutely.”

Ten Hag: “I don’t think otherwise. You wouldn’t win trophies as we did and to beat big opponents. So I’m sorry for you. I have another vision…”

The reporter pointed out how United almost lost to Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals, saying: “I mean, come on, let’s have a realistic view of what happened there.”

Ten Hag: “I think we won after City the most trophies in English football. So I’m sorry for you, eh?!”

It was a different kind of post-match interview for Liverpool’s Arne Slot, breaking down Man Utd and Ten Hag’s tactics.

“Last season they were man-marking in the midfield and they had a press with the seven and eleven, so the striker and one of the wingers jumped with him. This season they are more with a nine and 10 press, so they’re more of a 4-4-2. So that’s different, of course. I see them in my opinion working harder if the ball is being played through them. So they run more down.

“So that’s at least what I saw in the first games of them.”

Having identified how they play, Keane put a question to Slot over how he approached the game and whether he knew they would see success with their tactics.

Slot replied: “So their style is their full-backs are often times really high and then Casemiro comes in between, so if you can pick the ball and keep Luis Diaz and Mo Salah high, then you’re constantly in a one-for-one situation. And then you need midfielders that can run and we had three of them today that kept running. And if they arrive in a duel, they are aggressive enough to win it.

“So, that was, I think, one of the main things why we could win today.”

And we have to mention Trent Alexander-Arnold who was on the wind up. Leaving the ground and made a hand gesture towards the fans… have a watch of the video below.

Here’s how fans reacted as Ten Hag gets fiery with a reporter, Slot publicly exposes Man Utd’s weaknesses, and TAA was on the wind up…

@DanielMKCarter: Forget the scoreline, we’re a million miles away from Liverpool and the others. What’s more concerning is a journalist telling Erik where we’re going wrong..

@GingerPirlo_: Give that reporter a pat on the back

@MrSiWhitworth: Most dislike-able manager we’ve ever had…and we’ve had Jose. Fair fucks to the reporter giving valid criticism and calling him out on his excuses, blame shirking & gaslighting.

@ThomasSporsheim: I support ETH, but this answer on critical questions/facts like this makes my blood boil. Arrogant ego. Do we want the Europa league and another 8th league position? It’s great to win a trophy, but continued progression gives chance to win BIG trophies often. UCL & PL. #mufc

@Ma6eS_9: Wait… That’s not a pose. Ten Haag has really convinced himself that he’s doing a good job.

@triffic_stuff_:
“Maybe you can explain to me which mistakes we made regularly?”
Scary if he needs a journalist to point this out for him.

@PL2NL: I’ll tell you Erik. There’s a gaping hole in our midfield at least 10 times a game. We can’t pass progressively and misplace simple passes. We concede cut back goals pretty much every game. There’s 3. Want any more?

@carl_lewis_91: That journalist has made him look a right fuxking mug. “Maybe you explain me”… he was deffo expecting something simple back, and gets reeled off about 8 perfect examples of what a useless coach he is. Hilarious

@Nikz_Football: He’s too arrogant for his own good. Anyone who watches football can pick out the same mistakes his team made in a single game alone 😭😭😭
