Swindon Town unveil of some rather impressive proposed plans for a much needed stand redevelopment at the County Ground.
On Monday morning (14 April), the League Two outfit has revealed plans to redevelop the Don Rogers Stand at the Nigel Eady County Ground, focusing on enhancing hospitality and fan facilities.
The much anticipated proposal is part of a joint venture with TrustSTFC following the stadium’s £2.3m purchase in March 2023.
WHAT DO THE PLANS INCLUDE
It includes utilising the stand’s existing mezzanine for new corporate boxes, a café/bar, and improved concourse amenities like toilets and seating.
A new reception building is also planned to serve all supporters, aiming to boost matchday and non-matchday revenue. Architects Anderson and Prescott emphasise an iconic design to improve the stadium’s appearance from the Magic Roundabout.
The redevelopment is expected to displace around 850 season ticket holders, with 1,200 seats removed, and the club is consulting with fans to address this.
While no funding details have been disclosed, the project must exceed £1m to meet council buyback terms, with a TrustSTFC vote planned for mid-April 2025 requiring 75% approval.
Delays have pushed timelines, but the club aims to submit a planning application soon after consultation.
More than just a structure – it represents a legacy and a commitment to the future ❤️

WHAT ARE FANS ON SOCIAL SAYING TO THIS
The concept looks good but can so easily lie.
Look at statue park for an example pic.twitter.com/BIIhmZ5Oyr— Archie Mcculloch (@ArchieJMc123) April 14, 2025
@DeanMcMackin: Looks good and no one can deny it is much needed . I would be more interested to see how it will be financed, how the finance is structured will it be more debt added to current debt etc but looks great
@marsh_callum: The plans are good but there is no real information, we need to know where the funds are coming from, if the funds will be in place to complete it before it’s started and when it inevitably goes 20% over budget where will that money come from? Also is there going to be another vote on the final proposal after it’s gone through planing permission and half of it has disappeared as at the moment it’s well over the price requirement to satisfy the purchasing order.
@Rogwilloughby: Wow very impressive I will certainly be checking out these boxes when they are installed in 2065
@CharlieStfcc: the boxes actually look decent tbh
@rats_niall: Would be good to see this voted through for the long term benefits and feel good around the club. The trust in Morfuni is at an all time low and we’ll end up with wooden cladding sprayed gold by community volunteers with packed lunches.
@DaveSTFC94: Looks great but do we trust Clem to do it? Nope
@StfcShaun: Looks great and much needed for the club to get us moving forward. Lots of questions over costs and how we can order it.
@JoshBarclay9: The pictures look good but like anything proof is in the pudding. So far this ownership have delivered very little and on time. Who is funding these works or is this added on to the debt? Which construction firm is carrying out the works and have the trust had a say in choosing?
@jettight19: Can we know where the money is coming from to fund it all
@OliverL18028544: Looks nice but don’t think clem is the one to carry that project out he can’t even be trusted to clean the Rolex clock let alone re do a stand
@igregs985: Laughable to have funds for this but not a pitch or a decent squad. Let alone taking seats away from people who’ve sat there for years. What’s was it “every seat has a story”. You couldn’t care less about the fans
