Swansea join three other Championship clubs in race to sign Celtic winger

Swansea City have been the listed as the latest Championship club to be linked with a move for Jonny Hayes, a winger for Celtic.

The 32-year-old’s impressive performances this season – which has helped the current Scottish Premier League champions to 13 wins out of 16 games in all competitions – has captured the attention of a number of sides.

The Swans join Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City and Stoke City in wanting to sign him up with his contract expiring at the end of May 2020, meaning he could be available for a cut-price deal.

He is certainly a versatile midfielder who can also play at left back and he recently slotted into the back four after Boli Bolingoli picked up an injury.

According to the Scottish Sun, Celtic are ‘not keen’ on losing Hayes, so they are trying to tie him down to a new deal though right now, negotiations hasn’t seen him put pen to paper just yet.

Hayes started his career at Reading via their academy in 2003 before he then earned a professional contract them a year later, he’s also had loan spells at Forest Green and MK Dons before signing for Leicester City in 2007.

He then went opted for a move north of the border to Inverness Caledonian Thistle and then Aberdeen before joining Celtic in 2017.
