Sunderland’s tweet goes viral with dig made at Wycombe’s Darius Charles

Sunderland have gone viral on social media on Saturday evening after they made a dig towards player Darius Charles after thrashing his Wycombe side hours earlier.

Three months ago, the Chairboys defender told the club’s official Twitter account that Sunderland fans looked ‘smug’ in the 1-0 win back in Buckinghamshire.

The 31-year-old raced over to celebrate in front of the Sunderland supporters when he did score.

He said: “They came here and I felt they were smug. They came with this Sunderland presence. But I wanted to let them know, this is our house. You play by our rules. We’re second in the table, you are wherever you are. Respect us.”

Well that’s come back to bite him on the arse it’s fair to say, after Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson has left his fanbase eating humble pie by drastically turning the club’s form by picking up an unbeaten run of six games, three of them being big wins.

On Saturday, league leaders Wycombe travelled up to face the Black Cats on the back of some inconsistent results.

The afternoon ended with Sunderland winning 4-0 thanks to goals from Wyke (6′), Hume (16′ minutes), and Maguire (21′ pen, 78′).

The result means the North East side climb back into the playoff places, a surprise for many considering Parky won just two of his first 14 games. They are also just six points away from reaching the top of the League One table. Credit to him and his side.
