In a video, as seen above, they added: “This is where it all started ten years ago. Mottingham Playing Fields. The home of Sunday league football. Who would have thought SE Dons would become global? God did.
“We gave everything we could to Sunday league. We bled for our badge every week. Now were on to the next chapter.
“Raiding is a part of the Vikings DNA. And we see new land just had the game. As of right now, June 2024, SE Dons are officially a non league football club.
“That means we won’t be playing our games on a Sunday no more. Well be playing on a Saturday in a SCEFL Division One. New home ground. New kit deal, new league, new gaffer. Same badge.
“They laughed at us. For those of you doubting the mighty SE Dons, we look forward to drinking free pints at your bar. There will be a DONCAST coming out soon, revealing all. Lastly, a message from Mr Old Skool.
“Thank you for your support over the last ten years from both of us. Anything for Paula. God bless you all.”
This comes a few weeks after another Sunday league team in Caversham United revealed they’re joining the non league pyramid. See more on that HERE.
Grassroots YouTube teams are offering incredible access to fans that they wouldn’t get at mega-clubs. No longer are Sunday league sides being seen by just a few hundred people.
YouTube clubs have exploded in popularity and now millions of people around the world are hooked to the new adventures of these teams, some of which you may have noticed exploring the non league pyramid system.
What can start out as a joke or a get together is now becoming something quite serious. It often causes controversy, a talking point, a big debate. These teams attract talented young footballers, media attention, and high-profile sponsors. Even more so if they have brilliant run or even go on to win the FA Sunday Cup.
Their social numbers whether it’s views or followers/subscribers surpass those of Premier League and EFL clubs and footballers too.
These teams provide epic challenge videos, matchday footage, behind-the scenes banter and training tips along while giving youth players the chance to become pro or shining light on issues of race at all levels.
It sees bigger turnouts at matches than you normally would at sunday league or non league level. Every week, fans are invited to watch the games, some for free, many travel long distances to be part of this welcoming community.
Youtube football is a new concept that many people may find confusing or dismissive. However, it is a popular millennial trend. And off the back of it, some are now taking the brave leap into non league.
I’ve grown up watching SE Dons on a Sunday
I think the time is right to start the journey through non-league. Great to see more teams take this step.
Will be interesting to see how they get on, and will hopefully see them push through the leagues @sedonsfc good luck 👊 https://t.co/nF7kfDDPkq

The club say via their website: “SE DØNS is the journey of a Sunday League Football Club in South London hosted by UK Rap / Grime Artist . We show you the behind the scenes & off the pitch tribulations that occur for a Sunday League Football Club.
“We are a Family Club & have built up the best Sunday League Fanbase in the World. We do #ANYTHING For the DØNS & guarantee the #LONGEST90. Welcome to our jungle!
“Mixing football and music, the team is a combination of friends, ex-pros and people who still have dreams of making it in the pro game.”
