‘Sublime football’, ‘We’re taking the piss’ – Fans react as Leeds win 4-0 at Watford to go five points clear at the top of the Championship.
A Dan James double, with Manor Solomon and Joel Piroe also getting on the scoresheet in an exquisite showing from Leeds sees Daniel Farke’s side’s unbeaten run extended to 14 league matches.
This was also a third successive win in the league, with Leeds having scored 13 goals in those matches and conceded none.

Watford’s Tom Cleverley, per Sky Sports:
They punished us heavily and that comes with pace and quality. They smelled blood and really went for the kill.
“I’m not saying this to protect myself – honestly Leeds are one of the best teams I have seen at this level.
“This should give us the inspiration to get to the level we want to get to. As a player that level would inspire me to do more in my life to try to reach it.
“They are a very expensive squad so it’s a little unfair for me to compare my players against them but we could have done better in certain aspects.
“We have to get better and the only way we can do that is by sticking together.”
Cleverley speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio:
“A tough night? Absolutely. We were in the presence of a very strong Championship side. I think we knew that before but it is one of the best teams I have seen at this level.
“It should give us inspiration that they are the levels we want to get to. I feel like all my players have got the potential to reach that level but it doesn’t just happen so I challenge the players to be more intense in their work in the week, more professional wherever they can – and I am not saying any of them are unprofessional. You can always do more.
“But there were some positives with the character we showed to try and play so I cannot criticise my players. It would have been easy to chuck the towel in or start looking towards Saturday and protecting yourself when the game is done but they kept going.”
Leeds’ Daniel Farke, per Sky Sports:
“We were excellent on the counter-attack and the way we scored the goals. I’m pretty happy with the scoreline and the clean sheet.
“The fourth goal was poetry in motion I would say. The individual performance of the players up front was of the top level.
“All the topics that were important for this game we have delivered. The way we scored the goals was fantastic.
“There was always criticism of his [James’] end product but he was always open to improve.
“He brought himself into such a good shape that he can now play with confidence. His work ethic is crucial and is why he is delivering what he has delivered.”
“We know we have good momentum and a great shape but we have to use it and keep going. We need to stay awake and need a little bit of luck in hopefully not getting injuries to key players.”
Farke speaking to BBC Radio Leeds:
“We started on the front foot with good chances but I have to say that Watford also had good situations in the first 10 minutes. They are a good side who are dangerous on the counter-attack so it was important for us to score the first goal.
“I’m not sure the 4-0 reflects how difficult this game was because I really like how Tom [Cleverley] sets up his team. I think he is doing an excellent job here and it was difficult to take possession away from them.
“I predict not many teams will leave here with three points so I am pretty happy with the win and the scoreline and clean sheet.
“But we were really excellent in executing our counter-attacks and the fourth goal was poetry in motion. You would have to say the individual performance of the players up front was of a top level.
“If we perform like this our offensive row is unplayable at times.”

‘Sublime football’, ‘We’re taking the piss’ – Fans react as Leeds win 4-0 at Watford…
@CrossMagic: Everyone: “We’re so boring. We’re so shit away from home. Farke needs to go he has no plan”. Farke and the boys: “Okay let’s go score 38395620691748 goals. Attack attack attack. Become defensive warriors, and play like prime Barcelona”.
@lukecollier_: An absolute joke of a performance.. wow 😮💨😮💨
@Chris1014Lee: Another assured, controlled and clinical away performance. This team really is cooking now. Another 8 wins from 14 games remaining gives us 93 points. I don’t see another 2 teams getting that total this season. 2 massive games ahead #lufc #MOT
@willtobeweird: GET IN! Another brilliant win & ANOTHER clean sheet…Possibly our best performance of the season, this run of form we are on right now is incredible! When in full flow we are capable of blowing teams away… Monday night vs Sunderland now is massive. #LeedsUnited #LUFC #MOT #ALAW
@stevemaher34: Performance of season so far for me made it look easy get in lads mot alaw
@nigelLUFC: Totally justified making ten changes for the cup game against Millwall. In Farke we trust #lufc
@ajobbowfc: Fair play, took us to cleaners. Would love to see you lot in prem, great fanbase
This man just doesn’t get the love or credit he deserves. Was so unlucky not to get us promoted last season in a freak season. But this season we’re playing football on a par with Bielsa ball while looking so much more solid at the back . Farke is taken us Up!! #lufc 💛💙 pic.twitter.com/Wo2Ftih9vt

Dan James. What.A. Player. 😍😍Fkin love him me. Player of the season for us. His pace is fkin lethal. Defenders got no chance against him in this league. Unplayable tonight. Not the first time this season either. He’s class. #LUFC pic.twitter.com/gXy49q710l
