Stratford Town boss responds to backlash on gone viral wage row post with ex-player AJ George

Stratford Town boss Paul Davis responds to criticism and backlash on the gone viral wage row post with ex-player AJ George.

The Southern League Premier Central club’s former midfielder saw his post had gone on to get over 4.3 millions views, and 28,000 likes when he showed WhatsApp screenshots on accusing head coach Paul Davis of refusing to pay his final wages after he left them in November.

His post, in response to a club tweet, read: “Can you get the delighted head coach to discuss this (the screenshots) with me please when he gets a minute. Thanks.”

But the Stratford head coach Paul Davis has since given his reaction, via Stratford Herald, claiming that the club has a clear rule.

“The club rules state, once you leave the club you have to return your kit, then you will receive your last week’s wage.

“AJ’s message he put on X this week was originally from 7th November and he still hasn’t returned the kit.

“Yes, I did stop his money, but that was purely because he didn’t follow club rules.

“Players normally return their kit once they have left a club.

“If he returns the kit, he will receive his money.”

AJ George has since hit back, saying: “Hi @StratfordTownFC it’s me again, hopefully for the last time 😂 Just to clarify, this article is mostly rubbish. As you can see below, the screenshots show he lied about pay at 6pm and I found out at 7pm I wasn’t ever getting it 🤔”

AJ George also retweeted a post from Richie 11 Batch (RichieZuLuBatch) who said that it “seems a re-occurring thing 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️” with a screenshot of more WhatsApp messages included in the post.

@AlexCollard also replied to this by saying, alongside some more screenshots of WhatApp messages: “Sounds familiar! Top Drawed my contract and lied about paying me @StratfordTownFC. His interview is rubbish too, my tracksuit has been returned for weeks and I’m still missing wages.”

@shaneyfbush also wrote: “This the same club that top drawed my mates contract, owed him 2 weeks money and then threatened to go to the FA if his tracksuit wasnt returned 😂 Shambles of a club”

This story has also been shared by Harvey Bradbury, with it claimed he has gone unpaid prior to his departure from his former club Havant & Waterlooville in November.

The striker, who now plays for Southern League Division One South outfit Shaftesbury FC, replied to several posts of Havant & Waterlooville by saying: “If somebody at the club could reply to me it would be appreciated, yet to be paid £££”

“…I left a week ago. 3 weeks into November. Should be getting paid 3 weeks money”

“The PFA are now involved and will be dealing with it 🙌🏼”

When he was asked by one social media user about contacting the Football Association, he replied: “I have done mate… they’re on it”

As days when by, he made repeated reminders expressing frustration at the lack of a response, writing “Will I be paid today?”, “What is going on 🤨” and “Day 5 of not being paid 😩 will today be the day?? 💰”

On the 2nd of December, Harvey Bradbury tweeted “All to be revealed 👀” and added “I have a video which could blow up this app… 💰⏱️ Just seeking legal advice to see whether it can be posted or not…”.

His tweets continued: “Day 6… rice and beans for dinner 🎥”

AJ George said: “Some terrible clubs out there 😂 at least we’re in it together”
