Stowmarket Town sign a player who has scored 32 goals on 29 matches this season, and has already made his debut for the club.
The man we’re talking about is Scott Sloots, joining the Isthmian League North Division outfit on the 6th of March and was named on the bench for the game against second place AFC Sudbury.
He came on 71 minutes in with Stowmarket leading 1-0, and that’s how it stayed to keep their playoff hopes alive and a dent to AFC Sudbury’s title challenge, with Hashtag United seven points clear at the top.

CLUB STATEMENT:
Stowmarket Town are delighted to announce the signing of Scott Sloots.
The 29 year old has scored 32 goals in 29 appearances for Cornard United this season.
Signing on the dotted line Scott said βIβm looking forward to getting involved. Hopefully I can bring something to the team and help us push onβ
Thank you to Cornard United for their assistance in this signing. Scott is eligible to play at Greens Meadow tomorrow evening against AFC Sudbury.
Cornard United tweeted in light of the news: “The club are pleased to help you achieve your goal @xSLooTsY. Thank you for your contribution. Top guy & Top player. BIG BOOTS TO FILL!”
On Facebook, they added: “Slootsy started off the season wearing 29, but as other players came and went, he adopted the number 9 shirt – probably a fitting move. In the 29 league and cup games he has started this season, he has amassed a total of 32 goals, and currently leads the scoring charts in the EC Division 1 North. Everyone at The Lane is obviously disappointed to see him depart, but we wish him every success as he tries his luck in a higher league…..”
Scott has previously spent time with Brantham Athetic, Stanway Rovers, Long Melford and Hadleigh United, but this is said to be is first experience of Isthmian League footie.
Cornard United say on their website: “Scott likes to play as an out and out striker, and plays the position extremely well.
“Loves scoring goals, and is good in the air.
“Will play a big part in the Ards season this campaign after returning to the club last season.”
