Stevenage social media admin takes to mock tweet by Derby County fan

The Stevenage social media admin takes to hilariously mock a tweet which had been sent to them by a Derby County fan at the weekend.

Jordan Roberts’ first-half strike and a late goal from Kane Hemmings sealed a 3-1 win for Stevenage, putting more misery on the Rams on Saturday.

This was Boro’s first victory in four games, with the result seeing them climb up to sixth in the League One table, however a second straight away defeat for Paul Warne’s side saw fans call for him to be sacked with Derby dropping to 9th.

On the morning of the game, Twitter user ‘Katie 🤍 (@katieflintt) wrote: “where even is stevenage. it just sounds like a shithole. get us out this league.”

To which Stevenage replied with a video of their third goal. With six minutes remaining, Luther James-Wildin’s low ball across saw Hemmings net for his first as a Boro player from close range.

Home fans in the stands also took the mickey out of their opponents by singing “Derby’s f***ing sh*t”, to which Derby fans joined in with.

Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne said, as per the club website: “We came here to try and win and back up a good performance in midweek. We were well aware of our inadequacies at Shrewsbury last Saturday and we worked to make sure that it didn’t happenagain. The first half was pretty even, we didn’t create a lot but nor did they.

“We changed it to three at the back at half-time because we were getting done a bit on the diagonal balls and I thought we started the second half really well and created plenty of chances, but just couldn’t find the equaliser.

“On another day if Wash pulls the trigger a little earlier and makes it 2-2 then we’re in the ascendancy, but it wasn’t the case.

“We tried to make as many positive attacking changes as we could but weirdly the more we huffed and puffed, the worse we got. The fans are hugely disappointed, because they’ve made a lot of effort to come and watch the team and support the them, which I’m disappointed and sad about. The lads kept going until the end but the physical part of the game let us down.

“It’s [‘moments’] hugely frustrating because the lads take the information on board really well and train really well but then we let ourselves down in moments in games.

“We need to become more ruthless if we are to pick up the points we need to be successful. I didn’t think we were good enough on the ball and it’s about being brave on it. It’s not just about winning challenges and second balls but it’s about being brave on the ball and taking it. We created enough moments to potentially take something from the match but we haven’t and I’m hugely heartbroken by that.”

Stevenage boss Steve Evans said, as per The Comet said: “We fully respected and acknowledged how good the opposition were. We were playing the biggest team in the league in my opinion.

“We knew we had to match them in every area and I think we’ve done that and more.

“We had so much of the game in the first half so to be [looking like] was almost hard on us.

“We gave a silly goal away where we don’t track a runner and that’s not what our midfield players are about.

“Then we get the goal to go 2-1 up and second half we played really well.

“We went toe-to-toe with some really good players and arguably we should win by more.

“But we don’t fail to recognise that for Stevenage to beat Derby County, it’s [great] for the whole town.

“It’s tremendous for us and this is a wonderful weekend for me. We have our grandkids with us, it’s my birthday and we’ve beaten Derby County.

“Outside of beating a Premier League club away from home in the FA Cup, this is the best result the club has had for me.”

Twitter users reacted after the Stevenage social media admin takes to mock a tweet sent to them by a Derby County fan…

@sbfckai: WADMIN

@NathanJordan85: Getting out played by Stevenage, get Warne gone now. They all look absolutely fucked and he’s a fitness coach 😂

@TranmereEdition: Jesus Christ he’d be injured for 6 months if he tried doing that for us

@The1884Rams: They’re not even pretending to try at this point. They clearly have zero belief in the PE Teacher and have now just given up. Both the staff and most of the players are an embarrassment to the club currently. #dcfc

@BenjaminJJ03: Hahahaha I’ve been waiting for this comment to get savaged. Bravo @StevenageFC 😂😂

@BoroPincay: Admin sends another to the graveyard

@Sfcsmithy98: This goal has to be one of the best build up plays to a goal I’ve ever seen in the efl ❤️

@a_cheevers6: But Steve Evans teams play long balls all the time!!!

@NatVanChudleigh: Hoofball team, though.

@LiamOneThree: This is great from Stevenage. It’s the ol classic ‘we’re massive, so we should just automatically win the league’🤦🏻‍♂️

@AO1865: That is champagne football, well done boys.

@RobGWarren4: What a goal by the way

@SFC_Interviews: Haha this 🥶 from Admin 🧊

@scottedwards65: Fuck me that’s football

@borofan14: Classic “big” club being entitled to win the league 😭

@MrDante94871768: What a superb team goal that is 👏👏👏

@Westydoodah: love to see derby getting a pasting

@stefdcfc89: This is embarrassing to watch passive, no aggression and quiet frankly fuck all effort. None of them are fit to wear the shirt atm. #dcfc

@DerbyRetweets: Seen this quoted a lot. I said it before, I will say it again. This set of players aren’t playing for the manager. I’ve seen more intensity and desire down the park on a Sunday morning.

@Chaz99: Can’t get near them, embarrassing
