Southampton taunt with a cheeky video as Leicester fans take aim at their players and manager Marti Cifuentes.
The Saints extended their winning run to four games under interim manager Tonda Eckert, comfortably beating 10-man Leicester.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis headed the hosts in front from a Ryan Manning free-kick on 19 minutes, then Finn Azaz made it 2-0 with a curled finish assisted by Leo Scienza.
Leicester’s teenage debutant Olabade Aluko ended up being sent off just before the break for a second yellow card.
It was 3-0 just before half time, Harwood-Bellis with a header from another Manning set-piece, with the win lifting Southampton to within two points of the playoff places and above Leicester on goal difference, with the Foxes falling down to 13th.

Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester:
“It’s a disappointing night, both the result and performance. The first goal had too much impact. It doesn’t matter that it’s a clear offside, we didn’t react well after that.
“I am disappointed because it is not what we wanted to offer to our fans. It’s not easy to come here, it’s a long trip. We wanted to give them something else, in terms of the performance and points.
“We’re going to try again on Saturday. There is no hiding when you have such a performance, you need to look at yourself, be very critical, and analyse what went wrong.”
On Aluko’s red card on first start: “He will be stronger after this, we will be here to help him. I am sure he will be a good player for us. I trust him, he has been playing well for us, and we think that he’s a very good player.
Cifuentes, per Sky Sports:
“A young lad who has a lot of desire to do well for the club.
“It is disappointing. Not just for him but for us as a club. We will be there for him and pick him up as I’m sure he will be an important player for the future of the club.
“I spoke briefly with him. I told him life is not just about the nice things. We have to learn from it and do better.”
Southampton’s interim manager Tonda Eckert, per Sky Sports:
I am very pleased. We knew we needed to invest a lot today for a clean sheet and we managed their quality quite well.
“It is a team effort. I’m not a fan of talking about individual players. If we don’t work in a team, then there is no one to shine. I only have compliments for the team’s performance.”
Eckert told BBC Sport:
“I’m very pleased, we knew that we needed to invest a lot today for a clean sheet because obviously there’s a lot of quality on the other side of the pitch and we managed that quite well.
“I think there was one situation early on in the game after a corner when the ball dropped inside the box and I feel that was the only real moment that they had inside the box and being able to say that over 90 minutes I think is a compliment to the boys.
“I’m happy to go on, to go into another game on Saturday, it’s going to be a big challenge coming up and we need to make sure that we carry on the momentum.
“I want to go to Millwall and win another game on Saturday. That’s what it is about. I don’t look too far ahead. It’s a big game coming and that’s all I focus on.”
Here’s how Twitter users reacted as Southampton taunt with cheeky video while Leicester fans take aim at players and manager Marti Cifuentes…
@K17anbedder: Fuck off. Embarrassed and ashamed of this shit shit shit team. Top brought us when we were shite in the champ and he needs to leave whilst we’re shite in the champ. Cunt
@PaulFre36300327: We have the worst defence I’ve ever seen. Faes is just awful but he’s got able assistants in vestergaard and choudary. All terrible, all think they’re great and they let us down every game. MAKE IT STOP!!!
@saintmattc: Fair play to the Leicester fans that stayed. 3 nil down and with 10 men at half time, could have easily got on the journey home earlier – safe travels back.
@EdwardBarge: Sad to say this but, Marti out. I like him as a person and the togetherness he’s tried to install but it just isn’t working. I said after RVN, we need a pragmatic manager who is no nonsense defensively minded. We are so soft, zero leadership. Too many players not interested.
@lcfc_luk3: Shocking. 🤬 The manager has bit off more than he can chew & the players don’t seem to give a toss as always. Point deduction looming. The Leicester City Rollercoaster!
@ItLcfc: That performance was a shambles. If Top really means what he says we need to get people into this club that care about it. And also know a bit about football, because there is brilliant young talent here but they’re surrounded by poor professionals who don’t care enough.
@DarkGla1ve88: That first half was a tragedy. Yes their first goal looked offside, but we got what we deserved by half time and it could have been worse. Sure there were no goals in the second half, but the damage had already well and truly been done. Woeful to say the least. 🦊💙
@vriyait: Pathetic. What do this team want? Last 2 games we won, that should build confidence. The players talk a good game but ultimately they are empty words.
@sparky__26: Don’t let the sending off fool you, that was a disgraceful performance. This club’s rotten to the core, fresh ownership and ideas needed. Vile club at the minute. King power out. Rudkin out. Marti out. #LCFC
