Sheffield Wednesday have this afternoon revealed the appointment of former player Garry Monk as their new first team manager but have not mentioned the length of his contract.
The Owls refused to comment on speculation until their press conference which was issued for 4pm later today. But he was at their training ground to finalise the deal, replacing caretaker manager Lee Bullen but also Steve Bruce who left the club for Newcastle United in July.

Former Birmingham, Swansea, Leeds and Middlesbrough boss Monk has been out of a job since he left Birmingham City which he has been considering legal action over allegations made against him and his agent by the club.
He did a great job with them, finishing 12 points clear from the relegation places and were set to finish 14th instead of 17th but the club were hit with a 9 point deduction for failing to comply with the EFL profitability and sustainability rules.
He said in his press conference: “I was a player here many moons ago and even though it was a short spell, I got a good grasp of how powerful and traditional this club.
“My overriding feeling is excitement and what we can do here. We know we have a capable squad and it’s about making us compete as hard as we can.
“It has been a steady start, we are in a healthy position with good foundations. The things that is exciting is that we could have a very strong squad in this league and it’s about bringing that out.
“In the Championship there are another 15/16 teams with the same ambition, you must do the basics well and your quality will come out on top and we have that quality here. We will put that work in.
“The experience as a player has always stuck with me when I’ve come back here as a manager. It’s fantastic, you always say as a manager you want to keep the Kop end quiet and now it is the opposite! We want them loud and it’s up to players as well to get that.”
He now takes charge of the Owls, with his first outing the televised Championship meeting against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on the 15th of September.
After finding out that Garry Monk is set to be confirmed the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday, fans took to give their thoughts on whether they were happy with it or not – see those tweets on the next page.
