Sheffield United are reportedly under investigation by the (EFL) English Football League after rivals complain of an alleged rule breach.
As per Matt Hughes, the Blades are facing a disciplinary probe after rivals complained to the league over their proposed takeover.
A group of American investors are trying to buy Sheffield United, but there is an accusation that they have broke rules by conducting transfer business before completing their takeover.

SunSport say the EFL have been made aware of information regarding the involvement of representatives from Sheffield United’s potential new owners, a group from California, have become involved in transfer negotiations.
This has led to the EFL looking into the matter and could see disciplinary measures taken.
A similar kind of situation in 2023 saw Birmingham City investigated for potentially violating EFL regulation 86.
A consortium who tried to purchase the club was accused of conducting operations without official approval or passing the owners and directors test.
Despite the proposed £35million takeover by Maxco collapsing, the EFL still took action against those individuals involved with ex-Charlton CEO Matt Southall, former Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez, and local businessman Paul Richardson all receiving a ban from acting as directors.
The EFL are now putting a warning out to all clubs that incoming owners cannot represent the club they are attempting to acquire.
SunSport state that Sheffield United and the EFL declined to comment.
There is some more positive news for the club meanwhile, with @robstaton tweeted a few hours after this story came out: “Per club sources, understand consortium looking to buy Sheffield United will submit for EFL approval in coming days. They’ve had talks with EFL already. With league approval, they would takeover.”
The club are desperately awaiting the completion of the takeover. Facing a challenging season, seen 10 players released the departure of four loan signings, and Chris Wilder desperately wanting to replace them.
Owner Prince Abdullah did agree to a deal worth over £100m with Dozy Mmobuosi last year, but Mmobuosi failed to meet the EFL’s owners and directors test, and got charged with fraud in the US.
