Welling United have chosen to appoint former B’mouth, Stockport, Luton, Plymouth, Oldham player Warren Feeney as their new manager.
It came just a day after they got rid of ex-England and Premier League boss Peter Taylor with the club languishing in a National League South relegation battle.
The Wings sit just four points above the one relegation spot although bottom side Billericay do have one game in hand and had thrashed Hungerford Town 4-1 at the weekend, looking to turn their form around and avoid the drop.

Feeney said: “I was doing recruitment for Baraclough (Northern Ireland manager) at the weekend when I got a phone call from Goldberg (Welling owner) and liked what he had to say.
“I like his ideas of the club, it was done quite quickly because as I said before I’m not scared of a challenge.
“I love football and the situation the club are in at the moment is one we need to get out of.”
“It’s just giving belief to the players.”
When asked about his knowledge of football is in England after spending the last few years abroad, he replied: “I’ve been a professional footballer for over 18 years and a manager for 190 odd games, I love football, and people go on about philosophies and levels, and at this moment in time, Welling need to win football matches, you know there is no right, there is no wrong, they’re in this position for a reason and everyone wants to play the pretty way of football but it’s a results business, there’s 10 games, there’s going to be ups and downs, we need results, and that’s the job I’ve been brought in to do.
There’s not a better feeling than walking off with three points in the bag and a good result away from home, but we’ve got to make sure we give the players belief, confidence to gain, and as I say, some results on the board.
When asked what is the DNA of a Warren Feeney team, what should the Welling fans expect, he answered: “You’ve got to work hard for me, as a player, I’ve played with great players, they had desire and hunger and to play with a smile on your face, no fear, it’s a difficult position they are in, but we’ve got to get them playing again, nothing less than a 100%.
Asked about the game against Hampton, and potential new personnel, he replied: At the end of the day, the players do have a chance, but we are who we are and for that reason, it needs a freshen up, nothing’s personal with anyone, we’re speaking with a few players in this moment of time, and with this stage in the season, we need to get throuygh this hopfully I can get one or two in.
On a final note, he was asked what would be his message to the Welling fans that travel to the game on Tuesday, he said: “Glad to be here, there’s no doom and gloom, I’m a positive person, to the support, get behind the players, there will be ups and downs but we need to get over that, we got to get together, 10 good games for us to enjoy, stay in this league and build for this future.

@RobertC38672596: I wish him luck but club left this too late and you now have Dorking and Maidstone etc coming up
@djbhammer7: What a complete shambles and circus of a club it has become under Goldberg. Sooner he sells up the better.
@Simmo2022: From the Bulgarian PL to bottom of conference south? Very strange.
@marowe1988: Very surprised at that. Heard a lot of rumours of another name nailed on. Interesting.
@TheNonLeagueSct: Wow ambitious appointment, if not outside the usual box of thought, by Welling United. I had been enjoying his project at Pirin in 🇧🇬 prior to sacking.
@jontylad: He’ll do well go to well there, well, that’s my view.
@1886Pierce: @Bobo_Baldynot sure if he’s even at that level
@MartinClucas: Oh my days, must be really hard up for a manager. Absolutely clueless and his man management skills are appalling IMO 🙈
