Serie A club signs 18 year old wonderkid from 11TH TIER of English football after impressing on trial

Serie A club Cagliari signs 18 year old wonderkid Jack Nunn from the 11TH TIER of English football after impressing while on trial with them.

The youngster, born in 2006, will swap life in Gloucestershire for the Italian island of Sardinia, and will linked up with their under 19s team, in the Primavera 1 next season.

He had been on trial with their youth squad since the start of their pre-season training camp and made his debut in the friendly against Davide Nicola’s first team at the weekend.

@EnglishAbroad1 wrote in a tweet: “๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น From English 11th tier to Serie A!

“Congratulations to Jack Nunn on signing a deal with Cagliari! ๐Ÿ‘

“The young defender had been on trial with the Italian side and has now signed a deal to stay with the club’s under-19 side.

“Alongside his studies, where he was selected to play for England Colleges, Nunn also featured for Stoke Gifford United last season. He made four appearances for the side in the Gloucestershire County Football League.”

Stoke Gifford United tweeted of their delight at the news: “Big congrats Jack!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘”

Back in November 2023, SGS Sports Academies said that he, along with three others ‘exceptionally talented SGS Football learners’, Jack Hicks, Jack Nunn and Devanti Mclnerney, were selected to represent the prestigious England Colleges Football Association (ECFA).

In February 2024, he was part of the English Colleges FA team that won 7-0 against Canada, with England topping the group unbeaten without conceding a goal.

That set up a final against Wales, and after finishing goalless, Wales went on to win 4-2 on penalties.

In March 2024, @DaveNunn68 wrote: “Watching Cagliari 1st team train.”

Looking on Twitter, it seems he also played for the under 18s and first team of Hellenic League Premier Division club Mangotsfield United, where he scored some goals and was given a J20 as a man of the match award as he was 17 at the time.

He also netted for Mangotsfield, to help them win the Gloucestershire FA Challenge Trophy Final, 3-2 against Cheltenham Saracens.

@DaveNunn68 also posted the Bath City team lineup, featuring trialists in the game against Cheltenham, however it’s unclear whether Jack was part of this in any way.
