Scorpion kick seals Ramsgate comeback from 3-1 down to 3-3 between 93rd and 98th minute

A scorpion kick seals a Ramsgate comeback from 3-1 down to 3-3 between 93rd and 98th minute as they played host to Haywards Heath Town.

952 fans were present to see the six goal thriller on Non League Day, with Michael Uwezu putting Haywards Heath ahead 22 minutes after Cameron Dobell pulled it across the box and the Rams failed to get a foot to it.

The hosts found an equaliser through Taofiq Olomowewe, heading the ball in the back of the net from a Jake McIntyre corner.

Then almost immediately after, Haywards were back in front, with Uwezu given the ball by Richard Pingling on the edge, who placed it on a plate to Conrad Honorรฉ who fired them ahead.

Dean Gunner made it 3-1 right come the 59th minute, and by this point, it seemingly felt as though Ramsgate were going to be defeated.

However they fought back, and set up quite the dramatic finish when they reduced the deficit to 3-2 on the 93rd minute with Taofiq Olomowewe getting his second of the game.

Then complete heartbreak for Haywards and elation for Ramsgate and the league leaders then made it 3-3 on the 98th minute, and with a scorpion kick.

Ramsgate tweeted: “We’ve watched this 200 times already ourseolves.. is there a better #nonleague day goal that this? @TonyIncenzo @NonLeagueCrowd @IsthmianLeague @KentNLPodcast @KentishFootie @SkySportsNews @SkySports @KentFA @goalpostfooty #nonleagueday”

Then the video got further attention from the likes of SPORTbible and BBC Match of the Day on social media, helping boos the video views to over 100,000 within 24 hours of posting it.

@RamsgateFC added: “Over 100k people have watched @kanerowland ‘s equaliser. Two points clear at the top of the league.”

Chatham Town closed the gap to the top of the table to just two points, with goalkeeper Nathan Harvey netting the only goal at Burgess Hill Town.

However, the Chats goalkeeper ended up somehow getting himself sent off. He was one of three players who left the game early.

As early as the 22nd minute, Chats were down to ten men. Dean Beckwith was sent off for Chats, and yet Burgess Hill couldn’t take advantage of this.

Nathan Harvey scored a wind assisted goal 14 minutes from time.

The Hillians went down to ten by full time with substitute Hayden Skerry sent off.

The result means that Ramsgate remain top of the Isthmian Football League South East Division with 66 points from 33 games played. They are also two points ahead of second place Chatham Town.

Haywards Heath Town currently sit 18th with 32 points from 33 games played, and now eight points above the bottom two.
