Rutter stuns with disgusting first touch and goal for Leeds | Swansea fans slam ticket price

Georginio Rutter stuns with a disgusting first touch and goal for Leeds United while Swansea fans slam the ticket price at Elland Road.

Goals from Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and Dan James helped Daniel Farke’s men to win 3-1 having fallen behind after just one minute through Jamie Paterson.

But it was Georginio Rutter who stole the show, putting the hosts ahead in first-half stoppage time with footage of his deft touch going viral.

It got the approval of Paul Merson, as he said on Sky Sports Soccer Special: “I’d go Dennis Bergkamp. That is unbelievable. Anything over the top of your head like that, that is absolutely unbelievable. That’s class that is.”

The result means that Leeds jump above West Brom back into third place, extending their unbeaten home record for the 2023/24 Championship campaign to nine matches and have now won seven of their last nine games.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Farke said post-match: “I have to give many compliments to my lads because the start was ridiculous. We went to this game and after 1 minute we took the lead.

“You think ‘OK happy days’ and then 30 seconds later the goal was disallowed and we conceded out of nothing. Swansea are a really good footballing side and they can cause problems especially when they’re confident, they’re good on the counter-attack.

“I thought in this moment that it could be a really long day at the office, but I have to give compliments to my lads. Although it was a difficult and complicated game in the first half, we didn’t lose our nerve, we were spot on and didn’t give any chances away.

“They caused us some problems with their possession and pressing, but nevertheless we were able to turn the game around, we had fantastic goals and great chances.

“The second half was more impressive because we spoke about a few details in our pressing that we wanted to change to get more control over the game and that’s what we did with many winnings of the ball.

“The only thing I could criticise is our efficiency because I looked at our xG and we had seven or eight more chances than Swansea did. All in all it was a mature performance and a well-deserved win.”

Swansea boss Michael Duff said: “I thought we were excellent in the first half and I’m not sure how we were losing at half-time.

“We scored a good goal, but what cost us was the timing of the goals we conceded. We conceded within a couple of minutes of leading, and then conceded right at the end of the half.

“It’s a different game if we go in at 1-1. We had managed to play through them, Carl (Rushworth) had not had to make a save of any sort of note, but the second half was different then.

“We started it a bit sloppily, but we stuck to what we are trying to do, we kept playing and trying to find a way.

“You also look at the quality of the players they have got and the players they have got coming on and the quality of the goals.

“We are disappointed to lose, of course we are, but we are starting to look like how we want to look like in terms of the football, the way we want to play through and hurt teams.

“There are signs of progress but we also know we can’t be happy with playing okay and losing. We have to find that balance.

“We did not come here just to try and survive, we looked to play and were incisive with it. I was proud of the players but now we have to keep building.”

Meanwhile, in the stands during the Championship clash, Swansea fans could be seen holding aloft a banner with criticised the ticket prices, set at £45 for adults.
