Ruben Amorim is once again left angry and frustrated as his inconsistent Man Utd side concede a late equaliser to West Ham.
Diogo Dalot had put Manchester United ahead with his first Premier League goal in over two years to give his side a 1-0 lead just before the hour.
Soungoutou Magassa then levelled on the 83rd minute, with the result seeing the hosts miss out on the chance to move up to 5th place, instead they’re 8th with 22 points from 14 games played.
West Ham remain in the drop zone but are now just two points from safety, sitting 18th with 12 points from the same amount of games played.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim speaking to Sky Sports:Ā “[The performance] was not constant. We had good moments and we lost control a little bit in the first half and a little bit in the second half after the goal. We should have closed the game when we scored the first one.
“The game was in control. We knew it. Let’s defend far from the box. We knew set pieces would be a problem with the difference in height in the team but we could do it. We could maintain the ball after the first goal and again we lost two points.”
On where the game was lost:Ā “Just losing second balls. And when they kick the ball long. Mateus [Fernandes] running with the ball. They win the first ball and then Bowen was making the runs. You can’t control that kind of game. We should be better with the ball after the first goal.
“We had a big opportunity with Cunha. We had the ball near the box but the crosses were not good. Sometimes the players’ characteristics inside the box are not good. They are not enough to score goals from that position.”
Amorim speaking to Sky Sports on Dalot’s first league goal at Old Trafford:Ā “Yes it’s a goal but we draw so that doesn’t matter.”
On the equaliser:Ā “The players changed but it is not an excuse. We know what to do in every situation. The game is 83 minutes and we need to close the game and not suffer a goal.”
On getting into a good position ahead of the New Year:Ā “Everything is important. Every game is important. We need to win the next one.”
“We should be better with the ball”

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo talking to Sky Sports:Ā “We should be proud of the work of the boys, they work really hard to contain Man Utd. We went for the game. The boys worked really hard. We have to be glad.
“I was happy [when the equaliser went in]. I was very, very happy because I think we were on top of the game in that moment, we had momentum.”
“I’m very pleased with the work of Jarrod [Bowen]. We are very happy to have him as a captain. He leads by example. He played an amazing game today.”
“I think [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] played well. Our defence was OK. The goal we conceded came from a rebound. Nothing to do with organisation – the cover was there, the hard work was there. I think all of the defensive work was very very positive.”
“It’s an important result because it’s a tough place to come. We are proud that we achieved something. It could have been three [points]. I felt we had good momentum – Man Utd, of course, also had some chances.
“But it doesn’t change anything. We are building, always looking for a better performance. We will recover faster for Brighton. When we have a good result, a good performance, the legs recover faster. So we’re going to have a tough match on Sunday, but with a better recovery.
“I thought that all of the performance – especially in the second half – the way that we recovered, the way that we played, the way that we combined, we created many problems for Man Utd.”

Manchester United goalscorer Diogo Dalot speaking to Sky Sports:
“Disappointed. At 1-0 up with 30 minutes to go, I think we have to control the game much more. Especially at Old Trafford. We cannot get as anxious as we got after the goal. We were maybe a little bit more sloppy with the ball possession.
“Obviously disappointed with the draw. We had the game, there.”
On their lack of control:
“It’s the solution that we need to find. It can be various things. It shouldn’t be like this because you are fighting 60 minutes to score a goal and then when it happens you should keep doing the same things, even more controlling, longer possession so we can be dominant. Especially the play that goes to the corner that we conceded – that’s the kind of play that we need to avoid, especially against teams that are good on the counter.
“And we knew today that they were going to be looking for counter-attacks and set plays and unfortunately we couldn’t hold the result but in the end we have to look to ourselves – I think it’s more our fault, than credit to West Ham.”
On his first Premier League goal at Old Trafford:
“It’s a great feeling. Any time you have the opportunity to score for a club like this, it’s amazing. Especially at the Stretford End. But in the end, the taste is not the same, I would change that for the three points without thinking. But I’m happy to help the team in any way, whether that’s with a goal or whatever.
“But this type of result, it just gives you something to look at. We cannot be winning at home with 30 minutes to go and not controlling the game.”
On the significance of the result:
“I think it’s massive. We’re at the time of the year where you cannot drop too many points, otherwise the distance to the top will be even higher. This season, the distance is short, but it will come to a time when everyone starts spreading out and we want to be there, we want to be in the top four, top five. That’s the aim, we have to be there.
“Today we had a big chance, I think that’s why the disappointment is even bigger.”
West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen speaking to Sky Sports:Ā “We always knew it was going to be a difficult game coming here. They came off the back of a really good result away at Palace and we were on the end of another disappointing result.
“We wanted to show a reaction and I think we showed that from going a goal down to getting back into the game. I was really proud of the team tonight. The way they fought, the way they ran, and got a deserved point.
“In the Premier League it’s got to be that way. You can’t be too disheartened when you go a goal down. There’s still a lot of time to play and we have to believe.
“We have that belief, I think you can see that, and then we get the goal from a set piece which is really important for us. Sounga got his first goal, delighted for him, he deserves it so much. I’m really happy for him.”
Ā Bowen speaking to Sky Sports about altering the corner routine for equaliser:Ā “I don’t know. Irving came on and he is a left footer. I am always on to Robbo to get me in the box and try to score from corners and it nearly worked an absolute treat.
“Not many people pick me up in the air. I’m 5ft 9 or something like that, so not the tallest. But I made that run, got the flick and I thought I scored. I was gutted that it didn’t go in but to then see Soungou there and put the ball into the back of the net, I’m so delighted.”
On Soungoutou Magassa’s overall performance:Ā “I’m sure it has been frustrating for him. He wants to play more but he comes into training every day with a smile on his face. His English is getting better, as we’ve just heard, and his quality on the pitch is improving. He is coming to a new club, a new country, new teammates, new league, so for me and the team it is good to support him, put our arm around him and help when he needs us to. And he just shows his quality on the pitch.”
West Ham goalscorer Soungoutou Magassa speaking to Sky Sports about his first goal for the club:Ā “The feeling is amazing. We played a good game as a team. We all fight for everyone. I’m happy to score my first goal in the Premier League.
“It was a very good point, an important point for the team in the championship, and we’ve got to fight. I want to play, to give my best for the fans, the club, the coach and my team-mates, and I want to continue like that.”
Here’s how fans reacted on Twitter with Ruben Amorim angry and frustrated as his inconsistent Man Utd side concede late equaliser to West Ham…
@mufcacademy91: Youāre up 1-0 at Old Trafford with 15 minutes to go. You make two substitutions which you take off two attackers and bring on one defensive midfielder and one attacking midfielder. Thatās alright. You now concede and have a chance to make a last substitution. Surely, you make an attacking one with Kobbie on the bench and a young attacker? Answer? No. What do you do? You sub on a defender and expect a goal when you have only two attackers and TWO defensive midfielders on the pitch. 𤯠In game management very questionable once again and another game which the Amorim outers feast and get more rights to question him.
@Mxtt_barry: Should be booing every game, Ugarte constantly coming on before Mainoo and we concede within 5 mins every time he steps on the pitch.
@dinglette1972: Don’t worry guys. There will be cheers in the away end when you get back to winning ways on Monday š #wwfc
@Tim_Kendall13: Boring performances week in week out.. lack quality all over the pitch but we don’t put youth in or change much, subs are woeful and the play is backwards sidewards. Trying to find any positives is so hard.. we are not 15th (yet maybe)
@StevenDonovan02: I donāt think thereās a point in trying to make articulate arguments anymore. Ruben Amorim is a shit manager who plays a cowardly brand of football. We are not doing anything until he has been sacked. Heās doesnāt get results, plays a rubbish style and ignores the academy
@R_o_M: I hate it when a manager gets sacked because itās another season written off, back to the drawing board again, and starting the whole cycle off from the beginning. Itās exhausting and depressing. But Amorimās position is untenable. Nice guy, like him, but heās been appalling.
@UTDPatron: I like Ruben Amorim the personality and character but I really dislike his decisions and system, canāt keep pretending Iām convinced by this anymore.
@MUFC_RA: Amorimās frail and is terrified in this job. Happy to eat my words but Iām convinced he hasnāt got the bollocks to deliver what this job needs. If you canāt deliver one positive performance against 10 man Everton and a struggling West Ham then this job isnāt for you
@JDWHU1999: Based on the game, fair result overall. United are woeful so Iāll never be fully pleased with a point v them but still. Magassa unreal and fully announced himself tonight. Awb and todibo class aswell. Need Summerville back desperately tho.
