Roy Keane makes a Tom Daley dig at Jack Grealish while Gary Neville ended up getting told off after making a rather funny Man City joke.
Man City beat Aston Villa to move within three points of leaders Arsenal, with Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Ollie Watkins all getting on the scoresheet; Erling Haaland had to be withdrawn at half time with an injury scare.
City were rampant towards the end of the first half, and the third goal came when Grealish, who was eager to impress against his old side, won a penalty off Jacob Ramsey, and, following some discussion about who would take it, Mahrez stepped up to beat Martinez.
But Roy Keane has since mocked ‘clever’ Jack Grealish for theatrically going to ground in Man City’s victory, comparing the player to Olympic diver Tom Daley.
He felt Grealish won the spot kick after throwing himself on the floor following minimal contact with Ramsey.
Keane told Sky Sports at half time: ‘You have to give the penalty, Jack was being very, very smart. Very naïve the defending from Ramsay but he does kind of catch him.
‘Jack kicks himself more than anything else. He’s more like Tom Daley but I think it is a penalty and it’s clever from Jack. He gets his body across, he knows exactly what he is doing – gives the referee almost no option but to give the penalty.’
After winning the penalty, there seemed to be some argument among the City players over who should take it before Mahrez’s eventual strike.
‘We’ve seen this with City before and I don’t like to see it,’ Keane added.
‘Gundogan as captain comes in and gets involved. There’s some sort of discussion. I suppose the most important thing is they scored the penalty. 3-0. Game over.’
🗣️ “I’m going to text him later on… he made a meal of that!” 📞

After the game ended, Gary Neville was told off for a joke he thought was hilarious on Sky Sports.
Neville provided viewers with co-commentary for City’s first match since it was hit with 115 financial penalties over nine seasons by Premier League. Fans reacted by booing and waving banners, which you can see HERE.
Neville, after the match, was at the Sky studio to do additional analysis. But he couldn’t resist making a joke at Man Utd’s rivals.
Before the broadcast ended, Kelly Cates promoted Sky’s documentary about City’s 1998/1999 promotion season, which saw them go from 2-0 down against Gillingham, to win the playoff final with penalties.
It’s titled, ‘We’re Not Really Here: Man City’ – but as soon as Kelly Cates said that sentence, Neville can be heard saying: “Might not be in a few years…”
He laughed hard and Micah Richards, a City hero, sat beside him and said “tone it down, will you”.
Roy Keane smirked, but Cates said, “We nearly got through it Gary” as he replied, “I’m only joking Micah relax, you can’t joke anymore”.
Cates added: “We can’t pre-judge the outcome of any investigation, as you well know.”
She finished advertising the programme but conceded, “From all of us here, I think it’s probably best we go, don’t you?”.
Great ending here… “we’re not really here” 🥶 @GNev2 pic.twitter.com/wPFIDPCF7g

This is what social media users said as Roy Keane makes a Tom Daley dig at Jack Grealish while Gary Neville is cheekily told off over his Man City FFP joke…
@jonnyfallon: Grealish diving is hardly a surprise that’s the sun total of his entire career
@3cbPerformance: This is why you go down every single time there’s any contact. Officials don’t reward honesty in the league
@DevilJukebox: He’s made a career out of this, I dunno why people are shocked
@ValiYum__: Wait? Man City cheating? Well consider me shocked…
@RichieLionel81: Can add this to list of VAR howlers this weekend. Nobody serious thinks thats a penalty. He cheated. Should have been a booking for cheating
@nononsensepunk: It’s a clear dive…..and to give a penalty for that is a clear and obvious error
@Paul_Fagan_1983: How anyone can watch that and defend Grealish is beyond. It’s most blatant dive you’ll ever see in your life
@NickWadding14: How has this not been pulled back by VAR? It’s honestly baffling how inconsistent it is, I think it’s actually made officials look even worse then they did before 😂
@JAMES77458423: Absolutely disgraceful. Both from Grealish and the officials. Cheats getting away with cheating as always.
@ColquhounDuncan: Oh wait not @ManCity cheating again 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 pricks
@AVFCinOz: Gets worse every time I see it 🤷♂️🤦♂️
@TippyTurtleton: It’s all hilarious if it doesn’t go against one of the ‘sky 6’ Shocking decision. Bizarrely backed up by the pundits. Shameful.
@neilTheMagpie: He cheated. Pure and simple
@BrimfulofNasha: Shithousing against your boyhood team? Stay classy @JackGrealish
@jaymeeteewhu98: It’s never a penalty and Grealish makes the most of it, he’s been doing it for years. 🙄
@CurranBoP:
Grealish: “he’s smart”
Saka: “cheat”
Interesting.
@joeeeeeeb1: Imagine diving like that against your boyhood club 🤣
@SJ_Barrick: Since when did cheating become “smart”? Is it just accepting that diving is part of the game? He’s manufactured the contact himself.
@_jakec5: What a dive 🤦 @JackGrealish
