Roy Keane was left unimpressed with Jordan Pickford as Everton lose to a Man City masterclass and just a few wonder goals from Gundogan.
Manchester City now need just two victories to retain the Premier League title after despatching relegation-threatened Everton at Goodison Park.
Pep Guardiola’s side will be guaranteed their third title in a row with six points from their remaining games against Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford.
But the Toffees were made to pay a heavy price following Mason Holgate’s glaring miss when he was left unmarked at the far post, but the defender somehow hooked the ball over from a couple of yards.
City were second best up until then, but went on to turn their fortunes around in their usual wonderful fashion, going to the other end and netted twice in the space of two minutes.
Ilkay Gundogan was the man of the match, involved in all three of City’s goals with a sublime flicked finish before providing the cross for Erling Haaland’s close range header.
He then curled in a delightful free-kick from the edge of the area in the second half as City now go four points clear at the top, however Arsenal can claw back the deficit with a win over Brighton later on Sunday.
The loss for Everton leaves them looking nervously over their shoulders with two games remaining, sitting just one point above the drop zone.

City boss Pep Guardiola to BBC Sport: “Between the Champions League semis it’s difficult here after won Everton scored five against Brighton. From minute one we took the game in our hands. It was a brilliant performance at the end of a season. We need two more victories to be champions. Step by step recovery.
“They defended deep. Their transitions are amazing. They are the best team by far in transitions in the league. We controlled the game. We were patient and attacked the spaces.
“Gundogan arriving in the box is amazing. Really really important.
“Every time we win you bring energy for the next game. We are recovering well.
“Semi final of the Champions League against Real Madrid at home, what can you say? I said to the players try to relax and just do what you have done for the last four or five years.”
Everton manager Sean Dyche speaking to Sky Sports: “I thought we were excellent for 30 minutes but they showed what a class side they are. They were slow in passing it in front of us, which was fine by us. But they changed their game plan and went longer. They picked up the scraps and capitalised on it. They showed what a top side they are because they can score goals in different ways.
“We tried to counter and break well, which we did at times, but all of a sudden we were 2-0 down and it’s very difficult from there on in.”
On avoiding relegation: “It’s the same as when I came in – we just need to get it over the line, that’s the priority, not Manchester City. Losing our left-back the day before the game affected the balance of the team but we showed effort. We were trying to get the team to play with confidence and there was an element of that. The mentality stood firm.”
This is how Twitter users reacted while Roy Keane is left unimpressed with Jordan Pickford as Everton lose to a Man City masterclass…
@CathalRobinson: Yeah how small did he look, short arms at it again, he’s so overrated, Roy is bang on
@bimalpatelYNWA: Been saying this about Pickford for years and yet he’s still England’s number one choice. Says it all really…
@DanKnox24: Where was this energy for Ramsdale when he cost Arsenal the league v West Ham and Southampton
@d4knn: Roy is spot on. He isn’t a top gk. He likes to moan at his defence when he makes a mistake. His best attribute is that he can kick the ball a long distance, which usually results in the opposition winning possession back. Ramsdale and Pope should be England’s 2 main gks
@dylanjd14: He is a top keeper though he’s saved us this season
@TheKopHQ: 🤣🤣🤣 He definitely isn’t a Top GK. Has really tiny little T-Rex arms 🦖
@PawlMartin: Keane is bang on. Pickford is average at best. Lets far too many soft goals in to be considered world class. Has odd moments of brilliance but more moments where he looks all over the place!
@El_Cunto76: I can’t stand Roy Keane usually, but I take my hat off to him today for tearing Pickford a new arsehole, live on national T.V 👍🏻
@Aitch_GKR: dont give him the oxygen of publicity 😒
@Manners16: I remember watching a game where a keeper made a triple save in opposite corners every time and Keane said he should’ve saved them because he’s got gloves on, that’s as far as his knowledge on goalkeeping goes
@del260581: He loves making other pundits claims look bad, that’s why he consistently refers to them in his responses. Other pundits are all scared to argue with him as though he some sort of God. He knows nothing about goalkeeping.
@DaleWighton: Basically what Roy Keane is saving very professionally is… “He’s only got little arms! He’s only got little arms! He can not touch the cross bar, cos he’s only got little arms” 🦖
@EmmaAWheatley: Roy Keane saying what many are saying about Pickford for the past few years, and it’s just glossed over by @SkySports. He’s as much the reason Everton are where they are as anyone else. And he’s the reason England will continue to win nothing as long as he’s their No.1. #EVEMCI
@Bunney_91: Roy Keane just absolutely bodied Jordan Pickford 😳😂 #EVEMCI
@rmch07197562: Roy Keane saying what no English pundit or journalist will, Jordan Pickford is bang average.
@PerryRonayne: Roy’s Keane telling the truth about Pickford 🫣👏🏻👏🏻
