Roy Keane breaks his silence giving his side of story on confronting angry Ipswich fan

Roy Keane breaks his silence in giving his side of story on confronting an angry Ipswich fan while he was on Sky Sports punditry.

One of the Ipswich supporters seen in the videos claims to have been “offered out” by the Sky Sports pundit, who previously spent time as Ipswich manager, and had been on punditry duty for the Premier League fixture.

After the 1-1 draw between Ipswich and Man Utd, Roy can be seen exchanging words with a group of Ipswich supporters, with Keane appearing to tell one man “Go in the car park and wait until the show’s over. I’ll wait for you in the car park. Wait in the car park.”

“Few home truths thrown at him he decided to bite very unprofessional I’m sure he had worse when he was playing.”

Jill Scott: I reckon Roy’s -last time he was angry] was at the Ipswich game, was it?

Ian: You know what?

Jill: He was pretty angry. Whenever Roy does a game, I always see he’s trending, and it’s always.

Ian: You know, I was quite angry. I was quite angry about that one because we we spoke about it. Remember when you spoke about it?

Roy: Don’t laugh. I wasn’t angry. I wasn’t angry. I wasn’t angry. It was very calm. I was just, I was calm. I would go after the guy twice. What happens obviously when we do matches and we send us down after the game after match when fans can be just an up or down, whatever, emotional, and people think they can abuse you or whatever. It seems to be, we’re supposed to be able to accept that. I went off to him twice. I said, no problem, if you wanna abuse me or if you want a discussion with me, I said, but I’m working. I’m talking twice in different states and obviously swearing for the kids. I said, if you wanna see me afterwards and people thought I was asking him for a fight. I said, I’ll see you in the car park. Look, now can I ask you a question? What else was I gonna see him? Where else could I see him now? Because the car park. I’d see in the lounge. They’re obviously asked to leave the ground. I’ll meet you at a McDonald’s. I meet in the car park. You have a chat. I’m not offering them somebody. I’m 53 years of age with 5 kid and2 grandkids. And he never, he wasn’t there. I was calm, that’s honestly not me getting angry.

Jill: Did you wait in the car park?

Roy: There was other idiots in the car park. Okay. There was other people hanging around, but I don’t get it. And then, obviously, the the anger people have is, I’ve been asking people off for a fight. Bizarrely, I had that as well last year at Arsenal. But thank judge could see through the nonsense and realise I was assaulted. But that was weird. Honestly, I wasn’t angry last weekend. I was just saying I’d see you later. That that was cool, though. You don’t believe me, do you?

Ipswich supporter Neil Finbow took to social media, and claimed to have been one of the fans confronted by Keane.

He said via his Facebook account: “New claim to fame just been offered out into the carpark by Roy Keane after a few choice words even Jamie Redknapp had to come over to get him away just ya average Sunday evening out 😆

After being asked about what he said to Keane, Finbow said: “Yep did remind him he set us back 5 years and ruined our football club also mentioned he wasn’t fit to step foot anywhere near our ground. Oh and I mentioned about him walking out on a world cup and breaking Halaand’s leg and putting it in his auto biography I hate the bloke and that’s been boiling up since he got sacked all those years ago.”

Keane was Ipswich manager between 2009 and 2011, he won just 28 of his 81 matches in charge, losing the same number and drawing 25, and dropped as low as 21st in the Championship prior to his dismissal back in January 2011.

In a separate post, he shared a clip of the incident, with it captioned: “offering us all outside”.

“Apart from Keane being a k*** that was an enjoyable game against a so called “one of the biggest clubs in the world” proud of the boys in blue ITID,” he added.

Meanwhile, a witness said to the Daily Mail that the fan was angry with Keane for refusing to give his children an autograph and for being unpleasant when approached.

“The argument all stemmed from an issue with his children.

“The fan’s issue was about getting autographs back in the day when he was the manager here. The guy was basically saying Roy Keane ruled with fear.

“You could see him pointing to the car park because that is where the autographs were done, and that’s where he had the issue with Roy all those years ago. So, it makes sense they were pointing over there.”

As for Keane’s car park comment, the witness added: “What Roy said back could have been misconstrued.

“He might have wanted to talk in the car park as that’s where it all happened. It’s hard to tell. But yeah, he could have meant ‘I’ll talk to you in the car park,’ but it came across as if he was inviting him out [for a fight].”

Other fans from the Ipswich end allegedly aimed insults at him, with one man in the upper tier rushing across to shout: ‘F*** you Keane!’
