Rotherham praised for top gesture to fan who went viral for dancing at Birmingham

Rotherham United have been praised for a top gesture done to a fan of theirs who went viral for dancing away at Birmingham City.

The video of 19 year old Corey Sanderson, who is autistic, got over 2.5million views and counting times on social media.

He was filmed just before kick off, of the League One fixture on the 1st of February with his dad, Mark Sanderson, 49.

He said, per BBC News: “Any time I hear music I like, I’ll dance to it and I’ve done it at most games I’ve gone to, like, home or away but this is the first time I’ve actually had the home fans notice and also film me.”

Corey’s dad, a teaching assistant, said: “He is really shy but is enjoying the attention.”

He said he was initially worried about the reaction of people on social media but that “it soon became apparent that, you know, the good was outweighing the bad”.

On Saturday the club tweeted: “This morning we welcomed internet dancing sensation Corey as our guest at AESSEAL New York Stadium to meet all of the first team! ๐Ÿ•บ

“Corey shot to fame for his fantastic dance moves which were caught on-camera at Birmingham City before the clip went viral on social media! ๐Ÿคณ

“His video will be played out on the big screen at half-time this afternoon.”

The club said in their video: “This is Millers fan Corey. Corey shot to fame after a clip of his dancing at Birmingham went viral on social media.

“While it was his dance moves that caught the eye, it was the overwhelming positivity that his attitude spread across social media, which we felt deserved a behind the scenes experience as AESSEAL New York Stadium.

“After a full pre-match tour, it was time to meet the players. Thanks for putting smiles on people’s faces Corey!”

Corey’s Dad commented: “He absolutely loved it! Thanks to all at RUFC, and in particular Sam Todd. Thanks again. Watch the video at HT!!”
