Revised FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round draw

The Revised FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round draw has been confirmed following the conclusion of this weekend’s First Qualifying Round ties.

17 fixtures went ahead on Saturday and with non league teams all at the same level in the English football pyramid, there were no cupsets.

However, there were plenty of goals, 74 to be precise including those that were in three penalty shootouts.

All matches are scheduled to be a single-match knockout format, with the winner decided by extra-time and penalties if the match is drawn. This is a change from previous seasons where replays were used.

The losing clubs of the first qualifying round games receive a total of £450 whilst the winning sides get £1,500.

It was an entertaining encounter in blustery conditions down at Southern League Division One South side Melksham Town, as they faced North Leigh from the Southern League Division One Central.

The game ended up finishing 3-3, the biggest scoreline of all the ties in the First Qualifying Round this season.

The Oxfordshire based outfit found themselves 2-0 up after just 18 minutes through Cameron McNeil (six yards out) and Adam Learoyd (header), however Jack Ball hit back shortly after to get Melksham back in the game.

North Leigh extended their lead on the 51st minute, but just as they looked comfortable, their Wiltshire opponents got their second of the day through Phillip Ormrod with full time approaching.

A minute later, Leigh Bally made it 3-3, taking the tie straight to penalties, which North Leigh ended up winning 5-4.
