Real Madrid’s team coach has been caught up in a crash on the M40 motorway a day after their Champions League defeat to Liverpool.
A number of social media users have uploaded videos and photos of the coach going into the back of the lorry and then stuck on the side of the road.
The incident appeared to happen on the M40 as footage circulated on social media showing the stationary coach.
Reports claim no players or staff were onboard, but the vehicles was apparently carrying the kit. Teams usually fly back home immediately after a European match. But even if players and staff fly back, their coach would still need to be driven back to Madrid.

A driver told the Daily Mail: “It probably happened about five minutes before I got there. I nearly crashed into the car in front of me because everyone suddenly stopped.
“I couldn’t tell if any of the team were on the coach but it was definitely Real Madrid branded, with all the logos. It was unmistakable.
“The coach was on the hard shoulder. It was really, really badly smashed up at the front, which had crumpled into the back of a white lorry.
“I don’t think it was the sort of crash where people would have been seriously injured but I can imagine people on board would have got nasty whiplash.
“There were a few people there but when I went past I didn’t see any players or anyone in tracksuits.”
Warwickshire Police state that they had received an accident report but there is no further information at present.
It comes less than 24 hours after goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo made it five wins from five in the Champions League for Arne Slot’s Liverpool as they beat Real Madrid 2-0 at Anfield; Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah both missed from the penalty spot.
Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher speaking to TNT Sports about his penalty save from Kylian Mbappe: “I was confident and thankfully went the right way again.
“It is a big result. It is a massive result for us. We wanted to come out tonight and put on a performance and well done to the lads for doing that.”
On Sunday’s game against Manchester City: “I think confidence is high in the whole squad. Man City, we know they have had a tough few results but what a team. We expect a really tough test but this is good confidence for the team and we will go again.”
Liverpool manager Arne Slot speaking to TNT Sports: “You know how special it is to play against a team that has won the Champions League so many times. They were a pain for Liverpool for many years too. It is a big week and it is pleasing to see.
“I didn’t have schedule in terms of amount of points I wanted. You want to implement the playing style as soon as possible. That is not difficult because it wasn’t that different to Jurgen’s. It is great to see not only the starters but the players coming on are doing as we expect. If before the season I had counted points for this point in the season I wouldn’t have done as much as we have now.
“Every time Real Madrid threatened us was from us. I think we can play with more intensity and better with the ball.”
Slot speaking to TNT Sports, discussing the penalty misses of Mo Salah and Kylian Mbappe: “In both situations you think it is probably going to go in. Both missed so they showed us today they are both human beings. In Mbappe’s case Kelleher was outstanding. He has done remarkable for us, just like our other goalkeeper who has been remarkable too.”
How important are academy players to your team? “They are (important). People always say that if you are coming through the academy you mean what it means for the fans even ore than the others. It is special that if they play on this stage and play like that against the European champions, it is nice to see.”
On his family coming to support him: “They took a few days off school to be here. They will here for Man City but it will not influence the game! To have family around, it is always a good thing, because you don’t have to be focused for 24 hours… 18 hours maybe!”
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham speaking to TNT Sports: “I think to be fair, from the first minute they took control of the game. We never really maximised the spells we had in possession. We turned it over so much that they kept control. They were more up for it than us which is very disappointing to play. It is a bad result against the best-performing team in Europe. We are disappointed at how we have performed and it is important that win the next three games and give ourselves a chance to go through.”
On Kylian Mbappe’s missed penalty: “It can happen. He is a wonderful player but the pressure he holds because of how good he is is huge. The penalty is not why we lost the game. They performed better than us. I know that he will produce many more moments that will be huge for this club.”
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who was named as UEFA’s Man of the Match, speaking to TNT Sports: “When you play against teams like Real Madrid it is always nice to score but it is important that we won it. We dominated the game. We needed a couple of times this guy (Caoimhin Kelleher) and thank you we had him.
“When we say in the dressing room, we know players that come in are important to finish the games and you know if you want to win trophies you need them. Everyone does the best for the team.”
