Reading fans protesting outside Wycombe’s Adams Park are told of club’s potential takeover

Reading fans protesting outside Wycombe’s Adams Park are told of the club’s potential takeover as news breaks on Friday evening.

Reading Chronicle report that Reading FC are in ‘advanced exclusivity talks’ with prospective North American buyers.

A week of doom and gloom ends on a more positive note, with at least three interested parties engaged in advanced negotiations to acquire the club.

The North American consortium are leading the way with a strong interest in the sports industry.

It is believed that they are in the final stages of discussions and could potentially reach a preliminary agreement within the next week.

This potential deal would encompass both the club itself and the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Despite the Bearwood sale, ex-CEO Nigel Howe is looking to hold negotiations.

Journalist James Earnshaw wrote at 6:45pm: “I understand Reading Football Club are in advanced talks with a North American group to purchase the football club and Select Car Leasing Stadium. A deal could be agreed, in principle, and exclusivity signed, by early next week. #readingfc

“I had to think long and hard before publishing because the last thing I wanted to do is toy with fans’ emotions. We’ve been here before But we need a bit of positivity on here and I’m told this is the closest we’ve come since we were up for sale. Everything crossed 🤞”

“Now obviously the elephant in the room is Bearwood. Am told this NOT being included was a big draw for some investors, with the expensive running costs putting buyers off. As things stand atm new arrangements for training would be needed.”

The Royals had previously been on the verge of granting exclusivity to the Swiss group Genevra Associates just before Christmas, only for it to come to halt.

Reading fans protesting outside Wycombe’s Adams Park were told of club’s potential takeover, chanting for owner Dai Yongge to get out of their club. This is how they reacted…

@keeganmark25: 🙏 please please let this be true 😭

@thesimpsonRFC: Please say this is the end game of the Dai Yongge era. Not over till it’s agreeed and the EFL sign it off #readingfc

@iJC106: Currently standing outside Adams Park and this news has broke. Still don’t want to get ahead of myself but this is very interesting… I presume this doesn’t include the training ground as those vultures Wycombe have exclusivity

Is this in any way a way possible option for f*cking Dai.
– BW has been putting off potnl buyers due to overheads and running costs
– WWFC claim to want BW
– Buyer comes in now BW off the cards
– Club and stadium sold
– WW pull out of BW
– Dai stuck with it

@ElmParkRoyals: What, and I mean WHAT the hell is going on.

@simply_langers: What if the prospective deal doesn’t include the training ground because Dai wanted more than £22m, but the intention of the prospective North American owners is to buy the training ground anyway for less? Probably far fetched, but you never know…#readingfc
