Rangers fans paint kerbs red, white and blue in Scottish town ahead of Celtic clash

Rangers fans paint kerbs red, white and blue in Scottish town ahead of their much anticipated clash against Celtic on Sunday.

Gers fans celebrate their first Scottish Premiership title in ten years and have once again decided to decorate the streets.

A number of 55 titles flags have also been displayed from lampposts alongside Union Jacks.

Roads leading into the town have been covered in paint in support for the Ibrox outfit.

Fair to say this type of thing has been going on for a fair few years now, here’s Rangers fans spraying over Celtic supporters’ work.

Bo’ness True Blues supporters’ club also shared photos of a huge banner in the centre of the town.

That was complete with an image of James Tavernier and a ‘stop 10’ sign, reading: “Can you see us now? Bo’ness is blue”

Meanwhile 55 Scottish Premiership title silhouettes have been painted on the walls of one particular Bo’ness building as part of celebrations.

Posting the images, Bo’ness True Blues posted: “55 times the kings of Scotland”.

Interim Hoops boss John Kennedy has confirmed his side will not give their rivals a guard of honour before the match.

He said: “It is something that we have discussed. It is a subject that has been brought up and I have seen several people talking about it.

“It was the same two years ago when we were champions and if I am being honest, I don’t think such a fuss was being made about it. I don’t see it as a big issue.

“For us, we spoke collectively about it and we won’t do it. It is not about lacking class, nothing like that, because we are a club that always shows class and dignity and do what is right.

“But ultimately this same group of players went in as champions and didn’t get the respect that time if you want to call it that.

“They are the same players who are being asked to stand there. We have decided collectively as a group. We will just get on with the game, park that, so we will focus fully on the game and just put that to bed.”

Rangers didn’t give Celtic a guard of honour when the teams last met after the league had been settled in 2019.

Steven Gerrard has begged Rangers fans to stay away from next week’s Old Firm derby at Celtic Park.

In his letter Gerrard said: “It is a great privilege to be the manager of this great football club and with that comes great responsibility.

“We must take collective responsibility to uphold the good name of this 150-year institution. You can’t follow us to Parkhead as champions, the first time we can say we are champions in a decade.

“That hurts me, it hurts my management team and it hurts my players.

“We want you there with us but sadly, right now, you can’t be.

“The best place you can support my players and I this Sunday is from the comfort of your own home.

“We must always remember how many lives Covid-19 has taken and we must remember the family and the friends which have gone because of this terrible disease.

“Stay safe. Stay at home. Support the NHS. Support Rangers Football Club.”

James Tavernier backed his manager’s message by addressing supporters directly on the club’s social media channels.

The Ibrox captain said: “It’s a huge honour and privilege to represent the best fans in the world. I want to highlight how important it is for all of you to stay home this weekend. Please don’t gather in crowds, near the stadium or city centre.

“The best place to support us is from home. Stay home, stay safe.”
