QPR go viral with their Squid Game themed new signing announcement video

QPR go viral with their Squid Game themed new signing announcement video as Yang Min-Hyeok joins from Tottenham Hotspur.

Queen’s Park Rangers bring in Spurs’ January signing, who only joined earlier this month from the K League 1 side Gangwon FC, on loan, for the rest of the this campaign.

They’ve got high hopes for him at Tottenham. It’s a straight loan until the end of the season to get some good experience and for him to settle in England, and then when he heads back to the Premier League club in the summer, with the expectation to have a proper pre season with Spurs.

QPR STATEMENT:

QPR are delighted to confirm the loan signing of Yang Min-Hyeok from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 18-year-old winger will stay with the R’s for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

Yang, who officially joined Spurs on January 1st 2025, is looking forward to his time in W12, explaining: “I am really happy to be here and I will try to do my best for the team.

“I have great memories of Korean legend Ji-sung Park who used to play here. I really want to play and I want to show up in the matches regularly.”

Yang only made his professional debut last March but an incredible first season in the South Korean K-League captured the attentions of Spurs.

He scored 12 goals and provided six assists for Gangwon FC, helping them to a runners-up spot in the top flight.

Now he is looking to further develop his skills in the Championship with QPR.

“When I joined a professional club (in South Korea) I was very eager and very hungry to play in a professional league,” he said.

“Now, I have come to England and I am still eager and still hungry to succeed.”

Named Rookie of the Year in the K-League after setting history in the division by winning the Young Player of the Month award on five occasions – including four in a row – Yang added: “It is a real pleasure to join QPR and in every single match I will try to help the team win and to make the fans happy.

“Any time that I can have an opportunity for the team, I am ready.”

CEO Christian Nourry said: “I am pleased to welcome Min-Hyeok to QPR and to provide him with the opportunity to experience English football for the first time.

“Min-Hyeok had been identified by some of the most elite clubs prior to his arrival at Tottenham as a world-leading attacking prospect.

“QPR has a history of working with some of the most recognisable Korean footballing talent in the recent past. We are happy to write a new chapter in that story with Min-Hyeok.”

Yang will wear No.47 for the R’s.

Twitter users reacted as QPR go viral with their Squid Game themed new signing announcement video…

@JoeHylton1: QPR media team pulling out all the stops again 👏👏👏

@JohnMacQPR: This is a truly elite announcement video. The people who think it shouldn’t be allowed are why the world is in such a massive hole. Sad and humourless.

@Wells88R: How are people getting offended by this? Literally nothing wrong with it

@CWells_155074: I never thought I’d see the day where QPR use a squid game reference in a transfer announcement . #QPR

@hazzacarter: I open twitter and the first thing I see is people crying racism because #QPR did a Squid Game reveal for our South Korean signing 🤣🤣 What a bunch of absolute pathetic cunts you are 🤣

@thfc__27: there’s no way people are mad at this? this is great.

@BCTFootAfrica: don’t see how people have an issue with this, announcing a Korean player using a known Korean show? people just want to feel offended now ffs and their not even Korean

@JBTC39074087: Surely people aren’t crying about this, isn’t deep.

@ReesJosh: Take care of our boy 🇰🇷

@ChrisRobson9: 😂😂 wasn’t on my announcement video bingo card.

@CW_W10: All jokes aside, surely nobody has an actual issue with this? It’s the most famous tv show to come out of his country, where’s the racism ffs looool

@lukewallis82: Struggling to see the ‘racism’ aspect of this? If anyone wants to educate me please do. Hyeok is South Korean, and so is squid game, and if the player wasn’t comfortable with the announcement he would have said no.

@___JG1: Woke won’t like this. Get in
