According to French publication L’Equipe, the winger, who played the thirty-eight Ligue 1 games with Lorient last season, was assaulted by a lady who threw liquid in his face.
The ace was taken to hospital after the reported attack and thankfully, he is believed to be in a stable condition today.
The media in France claim that the woman appeared at his house yesterday afternoon to ask for an autograph for her son.
Wissa happily obliged her request for a signature as an act of ‘good grace’, yet later that day, around midnight, the same lady allegedly entered his home, with the front door unlocked.
When the football player confronted her, she threw liquid at him which reportedly caused burns to his face.
L’Equipe state: “Around midnight, the same woman would have gone again to the Congolese international, and she would even have entered his home, the front door not being locked. According to our information, the lady with the autograph, who has not yet been identified by investigators, would then have thrown a liquid in the face of the player, which would have resulted in burns to his eyes. The player was admitted to hospital under observation, but his state of health was not considered problematic on Friday morning.”
A Lorient statement read: “FC Lorient learned this morning that Yoane Wissa had been the victim of an assault at home during the night before being hospitalised urgently, it is written there.
“Yoane is due for surgery today.”
It added: “The club, in shock, want to show their support for Yoane and his family and wish their player a speedy recovery.
“FC Lorient is counting on justice to convict the author of this attack.”
