Premier League linked Ajax player Quincy Promes has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a family member, according to reports.
The Dutch professional footballer has been taken away by police after an alleged involvement in a serious stabbing incident on the outskirts of Amsterdam.
The 28-year-old was taken into custody on Sunday morning regarding the assault, which took place in June at a family gathering.

De Telegraaf first reported that Promes was arrested on suspicion of assault, which resulted in ‘serious injuries’ to a family member.
The arrest was confirmed on Sunday morning by police spokesman Jelmer Geerds.
A statement read that a 28-year-old man had been detained in connection with the stabbing.
‘We only heard about the incident a month ago. An investigation was then started and this morning led to an arrest,’ Mr Geerds added.
The alleged offence could see the Ajax star face a maximum of a four-year jail term should he be found guilty.
A magistrate will decide on Sunday afternoon whether Promes will be brought to trial.
It was at a party that the winger allegedly argued with one of his family members, for an unknown reason, and then stabbed them with a knife – leaving them with quite seriously injuries.
As confirmed by Mr Geerds, the incident was reported to the police a month ago.
Ajax were asked to speak on the arrest on Sunday, and a club spokesperson said: ‘Quincy did not appear at training.’
Promes made his international debut in 2014, and has also played for FC Twente, Go Ahead Eagles and Spartak Moscow.
The former Sevilla player, who moved to Ajax for £14million last June, featured and scored in the 4-0 win over PEC Zwolle on Saturday.
He may now remain in jail for a maximum of three days, however, although the pre-trial detention can be extended.
Promes has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal in a deal that would cost around £25 million. Liverpool were also said to be keen.
In 2018, Southampton had a bid of £25m for Quincy Promes rejected by Spartak Moscow with the Russian club wanting £30m for the Dutchman.
He said he would be interested in a move to the Premier League, however if these reports are true and he’s found guilty, his ambitions are well and truly screwed.
The Dutchman scored an impressive 12 goals and provided a further four assists in 20 league games during the 2019/20 campaign.
2011–2014 – Twente – 34 games (11 goals)
2012–2013 → Go Ahead Eagles (loan) – 32 games (13 goals)
2014–2018 – Spartak Moscow – 115 games (59 goals)
2018–2019 – Sevilla – 33 games (2 goals)
2019– Ajax – 28 games (15 goals)
2011 – Netherlands U19 – 5 games (0 goals)
2012–2013 – Netherlands U20 – 4 games (1 goal)
2013–2014 – Netherlands U21 – 10 games (7 goals)
2014– Netherlands – 46 games (7 goals)
