Premier League 2026/27 – Matchday 6 preview

The eyes of the sporting world will be on Anfield on October 11 as Man City play for the first time since being found guilty of numerous financial rule breaches.

The atmosphere at Liverpool is guaranteed to be electric as the current table-toppers bid to put off-field issues out of their minds.

The Reds will relish the opportunity to test City’s mindset as they strive to maintain their own unbeaten start to the new campaign (W2, D3).

Arsenal will be keen to crank up the pressure on City by returning to winning ways at home to Leeds United the previous day.

The Gunners delivered an underwhelming performance at Brighton before the international break and cannot afford a repeat of that display.

Leeds have picked up nine points from their first five matches and have been touted as potential contenders for European qualification this season.

The teatime game on Saturday between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur pitches together two teams who desperately need to improve.

United were tipped to force their way into title contention after finishing third last season. However, they have won just once this term (D2, L2).

The fixture against Tottenham at Old Trafford presents the Red Devils with a golden opportunity to make their record look more respectable.

Tottenham spent heavily during the summer transfer window, but have kicked off the season with two draws and three defeats in their five outings.

Big-money buys such as Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have failed to live up to expectations and need to start demonstrating why Spurs splashed the cash on them.

Jan Paul van Hecke suffered a foot injury during the Netherlands' Nations League match against Serbia, which could prove to be a blessing in disguise.

The Dutchman has been poor since joining the club from Brighton this summer and may ultimately benefit from having a spell on the sidelines.

Chelsea vs Bournemouth and Aston Villa vs Brentford are other standout fixtures worth watching when the Premier League returns after a three-week break.
