Potential new phoenix club to form and be placed into a league as early as next season?

A potential new phoenix club could be set to form and be placed into a league as early as next season according to reports.

Just four days ago it was confirmed that Northern Premier League Premier Division side North Ferriby United have liquidated after they were wound-up at a court hearing.

Later that day day, former chairman Les Hare – who was at the club during it’s successful years including two Wembley wins – is leading a local consortium to resurrect the defunct side.

Hare said in a statement to Hull Live: “First and foremost it is almost incomprehensible following all the hard work which has been put in by the long suffering supporters of North Ferriby and of course the fanzine guys and Matthew Kempson, to not acknowledge that great work. That war is now lost following liquidation.

“Following the discussions I have had with those supporters I can confirm I have agreed to lend my experience to a phoenix football club at North Ferriby.

“Subsequently I have held conversations with like-minded individuals who are prepared to help me mount a rescue package. Like me, those individuals wish to return Ferriby to a community based football club and I can confirm I have put wheels in motion to do that.

“Our proposition is currently seeking the support of all appropriate stake holders such as the Parish Council and the FA. Our immediate plan is to provide all our junior football teams with surety and comfort that they will all be unaffected by this situation for the rest of the season and then ensure the future is fully ring-fenced moving forward.

“Needless to say as founder of the club’s youth teams, I am personally passionate in ensuring every effort is made for that to happen.

“With regards to the senior football team I will be looking to reassert North Ferriby within the football pyramid immediately. In accordance with FA rules that is more than likely to be at step five.

“The next 21 days will be crucial with regards to all of our plans and we will advise people further when we are in a position to do so.”

North Ferriby Fanzine said on Twitter: “Grateful the kind words for our #SaveNorthFerriby campaign. I don’t think the war was wholly lost. Agreed, we could not save the club, but we did help stop it’s franchising. And now there is a chance of a phoenix in NCEL (Step 5-6) rather than HPL (Step 7-8)”.

After finding out about these plans, fans (including some of Hull City’s) took to social media to give their reaction, with some liking the prospect of some potential tasty derbies for next season – find out what they had to say on the next page.
