Port Vale go viral posting savage comeback in response to Stoke fan trying to be funny

League One outfit Port Vale go viral on Twitter by posting a savage comeback in response to a Stoke City fan trying to be funny.

Unfortunately for the Valiants, they missed out on reaching the next stage of the competition, having lost 3-0 at home to Middlesbrough in the quarter finals in midweek.

Goals from Jonny Howson, Morgan Rogers and Matt Crooks sent Michael Carrick’s men into the semi-finals for the first time since the 2003/04 season.

Jonny Howson saw his deflected effort put Boro ahead on 12 minutes, then a simple finish from Morgan Rogers made it 2-0 on 23 minutes.

Port Vale struggled to try and spark some sort of comeback, and that was put out of reach on 53 minutes, when Matt Crooks made it 3-0.

Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick told BBC Radio Tees: “Key moments in matches change momentum. It’s one of the unfathomable vagaries of the game we love. And we’re in the semi-finals now. Who would have thought that?

“It’s about managing the energy in the stadium. But we defended well when we had to defend and the boys were terrific.

“It felt comfortable with 10 or 15 minutes to go, which is nice, but you’ve got to play well to earn that in the first place and we did.”

Port Vale boss Andy Crosby said, as per Gazette Live: “First of all, congratulations to Michael and his side. When they scored so early in the second half they had total control then. We spoke beforehand about needing to be at our very best, but also needing a bit of luck as well.

“Sadly, on the night we didn’t get that luck. There was a deflection on the first goal, for example. But we have to give Middlesbrough credit. They’re at the level we’re trying to get to. We’re a relatively young squad and tonight we’ve seen firsthand the levels of a top Championship team.

“I thought they controlled possession, they executed many things similar to how we’re trying to play in our own league. You could just see they were better at it. The speed in which they turn over possession, transition and attack our goal is a lesson for us because that was one of the big differences tonight.

“The control they had made it difficult for us to even get near the ball. It’s congratulations to them and we can learn so much the game and what we need to do to get to that level. We should be proud to get to this stage, we’re just disappointed we couldn’t take that next step, or at the very least make it a close game.”

Boro will host Chelsea in the semi final, while Fulham head to Liverpool.

In a video uploaded by @CallumLawt16161, he can be heard asking: “Can I have some tickets for the [Carabao Cup] semi final please.”

A Stoke fan took it upon himself to go to the club and request for tickets for the semi final, recording a video of him doing the prank.

He soon uploaded it onto social media, getting over 100 likes, but this caught the attention of the Port Vale Twitter admin.

So they took to respond to him, simply posting a video of a scene from Phoenix Nights, with Brian Potter (played by Peter Kay) in a wheelchair, asking “Have you ever kissed a girl?”

Port Vale go viral posting with their savage comeback in response to the Stoke fan trying to be funny.

They got over 8,000 likes and a million views in doing so.

@CallumLawt16161 replied: “Vale admin well and truely rattled.

“why’s your reply got more likes then your average attendance.”
