West Midlands Police issue a statement on fans clashing after Coventry’s 2-1 win against Leicester on Saturday afternoon.
Leicester had gone ahead early on through Jordan James, but Ellis Simms levelled shortly after the break thanks to a fortunate deflection, then Haji Wright grabbed a late winner. See more HERE.
After the match, police were on standby for any trouble outside of the ground, with some reports of violence with groups of fans clashing and exchanging insults near the CBS Arena and The Wheatsheaf Inn.

Despite a large police presence in key areas, the situation was quickly brought under control. Footage has since emerged online, as seen above.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: βWe had a significant policing operation in place for the fixture yesterday (January 17). It included a number of officers in and around the area, including specialist resources.
βWe had a few incidents of disorder between fans near to the ground. Officers responded promptly, and no one was injured.β
Coventry Live reports that officers were stationed in high-risk areas as part of a major policing effort, with police presence at The Wheatsheaf Inn, Broadgate, Arena Shopping Park, and Foleshill Road. Police added that no one was arrested.

Here’s how social media users reacted after police issue a statement on fans clashing after Coventry’s win against Leicester…
@martingriffiths4741: In this video Iβm the bloke that you can see landing on the floor at 28.13. Has anyone got any other footage. I suffered quite a few injuries as a result of this and would really appreciate any footage or observations. Thanks mate. Lost some teeth, damaged ribs and lots of cuts. Apart from that Iβm ok. Great video.
@TnsCov: An hour an 15 minutes stuck in car park A after the game so grown adults could bicker in the middle of the A444 and the 4 police of the apocalypse could piss around on horse back π #PUSB
Howard Black: Absolutely π― embarrassing π³ by both sets. Childish and handbags π at dawn.
Paul Hoskins: Things you don’t want to see, always has to be a group of mindless fans ruining it not just for themselves but others too
Chantelle Warner: What do they expect the police let the Leicester fans out the same time as cov fans itβs inevitable
Simon John Nestoruk: Let the cavemen batter each other better to waste their energy on each other than decent members of society
Samantha Jayne Mcfarland: My son went to that game and got hit with a baton by West Midlands Police for no reason cov fan
Matthew Leeson: Fighting over football ridiculous
Martine Davis: They take football far too serious! Itβs just a game.

Natalie Owen: These are men fighting over football…how embarrassing !
Mike Grace: Something wrong with them
Ian Ibbertson: Morons – itβs like the dark days of the 70βs and 80βs. No doubt fuelled by alcohol and other substances π‘

@yellows4life: what is wrong with some people, all well and good having a bit of banter, but violence really isn’t needed. how hard can it be to just go and enjoy a nice day out at the football, without it resorting to having a fight. good to see the police well on top of this too. surprises me just how many feel comfortable enough to act like that in general and in front all them police officers
