Daniel Podence was accused of spitting at Brennan Johnson, and Nottingham Forest and Wolves assistants were sent off in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
After two coaches were dismissed from what played out to be a heated Premier League affair, referee Chris Kavanagh was in the middle of another sending off storm.
After squaring up in technical area, Nottingham Forest assistant Alan Tate and Wolves counterpart Pablo Sanz were both given their marching orders.
If that’s s pen then they probably should’ve given Forest a pen for the Toti incident. pic.twitter.com/NIRmOtqePo

Wolves were furious at not being given a penalty in the 58th minute when Adama Traore tumbled, claiming he had been shoved over by Forest defender Felipe.
Julen Lopetegui and Steve Cooper, the bosses, exchanged angry words before backroom team members joined in.
Tate appeared to be aiming a punch in the bust up, while Sanz also got involved.
Kavanagh instantly gave red cards to both of them. The visitors were even more upset when VAR decided that the official was wrong in not giving them a penalty.
This is the second time in a row that the referee has been involved in a red card controversy.
He sent THREE men to Fulham’s FA Cup loss at Manchester United before the international break.
Willian was given his marching orders for deliberate handball. Aleksandar Mitrovic was then sent off for pushing the ref. Marco Silva was also dismissed for dissension.
This is the second bust up between the teams within a little more than two months between the two fixtures.
After Forest’s Carabao Cup win over Wolves in the penalty shootout, there was post-match drama.
Both clubs were later fined £85,000 each for failing to manage their players.

Forest scorer Brennan Johnson to BBC Sport: “The overriding emotion is disappointment.
“It’s good to play in these big games but we couldn’t bring the three points for the fans.
“When chances come like that, and not too many come in the Premier League, I really concentrate on getting the finish off.”
On Daniel Podence’s late alleged spit at him: “I think it’s just high emotion. I don’t remember it clearly. I don’t want to talk about it too much. I saw a motion come from him but they looked at it and it didn’t happen.”
Wolves goalscorer Daniel Podence: “Best league in the world. We have been doing great work.
“I’m very happy with that and a goal today. We had a difficult match in front of us and we got one point in the relegation fight.
“It was very frustrating because we had a lot of the ball but they had the best chances. I was looking at the time and we had a lot of time to win this game.
“I played against Forest last year in the cup and this year the matches have been brutal in terms of decisions, which are very complicated against us and make us feel frustrated. Morgan has a bit of joy to provoke our fans. It’s difficult to explain this rivalry.”
Leon Osman (Former Everton midfielder on Final Score) talking about Daniel Podence’s possible spit: “All the motions were there. The puckering of lips and movement with the face by Daniel Podence, the reaction from Brennan Johnson, but he’s obviously gotten away with it.
“You hope it wasn’t what it looked like, as that is one of the worst things you can do to a fellow professional on the football pitch.”
Forest boss Steve Cooper to BBC Sport: “There’s always the result and performance.
“I’m frustrated with the result because we should have scored two or three more goals and disappointed with the goal we conceded. Ricochets didn’t land for us.
“We were comfortably the better team, superior in every way and created all the real chances. Performance-wise, I’m really pleased.
“If we continue to perform like that we’ll have more successful days.
“Brennan is really thriving in his first season in the Premier League. We got into some really good positions and you have to.
“It’s a missed opportunity. The dressing room is a bit down.”
On Daniel Podence’s alleged spit: “I’m not going to comment on it publicly. I’m sure there will be next steps.”
This is what fans said as Podence is accused of spitting at Johnson…
@OldGoldShirt: They have got to get this discipline sorted out – including the coaching team
@lufc_rammy: What we doing with VAR, he wasn’t carded so assume they watched it and thought it’s ok
@RedDogNF: Apparently spitting in a players face is ok now. #nffc
@SagaciousFellow: At least Forest will get a formal apology for there not being a red card 👍👍👍👍👍
@Adam_Webster96: Honestly what’s the point in var
@CallumWilbraham: Absolutely outrageous. My first thought was this wasn’t giving because you can’t actually see anything leave his mouth but in the second angle you can see his spit. VAR is a joke I hope the FA get involved
@Dazzler_m: People wonder why we have complained VAR.
@t_nffc: @daniel_podence dirty cunt
@AnalyticsForest: What on earth were VAR thinking here. It’s actually mind blowing. #PremierLeague #EPL #NFFC
@Jim__Wills: Dirty bastard!
@076313e0378042a: Disgusting from var today. Podence should have definitely been sent off. Cooper got that Dennis change all wrong tactically. Results have not gone our way and there’s worse to come tomorrow/Monday. Next 2 games will determine our fate #nffc
@Cress31: VAR is an absolute disgrace. These refs have no bollocks. I’m watching the Forest game. Podence for Wolves spits in Johnsons face. They show the VAR reply about 5 times. Clear as day. And var says no further action. Its an utter disgrace
@9dawson_pete: Daniel Podence you dirty little rat! You should be banned for 6 months spitting on someone. Someone should of snapped you for that
@jackejc8_7: VAR needs binning. They’ve just sat and watched Podence spit in Johnson’s face and said play on.
@BankzyNFFC: Daniel Podence is a dirty little scumbag
@campbish10: Daniel Podence caught by VAR spitting in Brennan Johnson’s face VAR says…no red card 😂😂 just bin the whole thing. Wtf
@zoefurbz: Podence dirty b*stard.
