Several Plymouth and Bristol City players got in to a ‘not so friendly’ clash as fans watch on laughing at the heated scenes.
Tempers flared after a ball went out for an Argyle throw-in, leading to pushing and shoving between players from both teams. Bradley Ibrahim fell to ground. Referee Lee Swabey restored calm, issued warnings to those involved, but took no further disciplinary action.

Bristol City head coach Gerhard Struber said on the goals, per Bristol Live: “You can see his [Riis] qualities in the first goal, I think it wasn’t an overstatement for himself, and how he can score. He’s very clinical in the opponent’s box, he’s also physically powerful, and I think he is also ready to be always in a good balance. He has a nose for a goal. So in this direction, he’s an important player for us.
“It is very important that my strikers come in moments like that and build confidence, and build conviction. In this way, I’m also very, very happy.
“We are a step further in the process. I think we did many things in a good way today. I can see good steps in all phases, but the most important thing is the energy, attitude, and how we want to bring our style of play on the field. This impressed me today,” said Struber.
“We know that we do not have so much time for ourselves until the season starts, so it was an important, necessary step today that we show ourselves in this direction. We know the performance was good, but we have to do it in the Championship, especially as the opponents in the Championship bring many things to the table.
“We know we have to improve some things still. Our game management was not always super sexy, so we still have to do some things, but yeah, we are close, and of course, we are also very excited to jump into the Championship.”
Plymouth boss Tom Cleverley was asked: “Gaffer, that was our final pre-season game before it starts for real next weekend. I’ll ask you about the game in a sec. But as a whole, how ready are we for Barnsley?”
Tom replied: Yeah. I mean, you don’t want too many questions, as the coach when you when you finish a preseason, and I wouldn’t say we have.
“I feel like we know what how our best way to play is, when we fully commit to it. I feel like we we’re pretty much there with what our best team will be, so execute that.
“The boys are fit. We’ve had it’s always tough, you know, when we play Wednesday, you don’t wanna get a false sense of security because you’re playing someone three three leagues below you.
“And today, you’re playing against the team who’s expected to compete to get in the Premier League. So it’s difficult to judge where you are.
“That’s why next week will be will be our judgment day. And I feel like the players are ready to to attack that.”
